We were lucky to catch up with Quincey Laroux recently and have shared our conversation below.
Quincey , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Ever since I was shown how to draw my first star, I knew that creating a visual medium of any sort was what I wanted to do in life. It didn’t matter if I was paid or not, as long as I had paint under my nails and ink splattered on my skin. For me, it’s about sharing my passion with others and doing so visually resonated.

Quincey , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always been immersed in art. Because the world around me is so different than what was inside me, art was and is the way I am able to communicate and interact with others.
At one point in my journey, I went on a several-year-long hiatus and realized my communication skills plummeted. When the pandemic hit, I broke out and started actively pursuing my art in a more professional setting. I feel since then my internal world and the external world are more in harmony than they have ever been before.
Tears, joy, frustrations, despair, fire, and determination wove this fine tapestry of my soul. My journey has definitely been colorful and I hope to show that through my work.
I am a whimsical artist that uses whatever medium that has attracted me that day. I use clay, fabric, acrylic and oil paints, and jewelry.
I also take on commissions for projects that I share the same passions.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Shop local!
Always try to support your local artists first. If you are looking for a particular style of art you can always ask a local artist for recommendations. Local artists tend to collaborate together and are a tight knit community. We will always have someone in mind for you unique project.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my creative journey is learning how to be my real authentic self while creating. Being my real self comes through my work and I can see how people relate and connect to it on a personal level. It’s inspiring.
