We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stella Hall a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Stella, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

I wish I had started earlier with the knowledge I have now. I started 2 of my businesses in 2001 and 1 in 2009. However I did not have the business wisdom that I have now. My businesses were a hobby because even though it was called a business, I was doing things for free as if it was a hobby. I am a full time entrepreneur now. I was working a 9-5 and doing my businesses too. I stopped working for the state of Ga in 2020 and did not start back working a job until I started working for Belong Church in April 2021 but as of September 2022, I am back working my businesses full time. The wisdom I have gained over the years have helped me to pivot one of my businesses into a Coaching and Consultant business. I now help Educators supplement their income by providing skills and strategies to add 5-10K a month to their income.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Stella Hall and I am the CEO/Owner of WizeHouse Academy and Kingdom Living Publishing Company. I am formerly a tutor turned Teacher for Brisbane Academy in Charlotte NC, then started my own tutoring Company. Now I am currently working with Educators by helping them to supplement their income by 5-10K more a month by giving them strategies and tips to start their businesses, help their students/parents in various things and improve parent and child relationships, etc. WizeHouse Academy currently has 3 levels to it. 1 level is to tutor students from K3-12 grade and some core college classes. Another level is to work with Individuals needed GED, SAT, ACT and other standardized testing. The Final level is to provide leadership and theological courses for individuals. Kingdom Living Publishing Company (KLP) is a full service publishing company. We offer coaching, ghostwriting, editing, publishing etc. KLP was established in 2001. It was created when I first started working on my first book and I was not understanding or getting the assistance I needed in order to begin my writing process. We have ghostwritten for authors that has made the Top 20 NY Best Seller List as well as individuals who has made Amazon Best Selling Authors.
Stella R Hall, LLC was created in 2019 when I began my Coaching business. I have always been a Consultant in many areas but did not realize that it was a business. I was casually nicknamed the “resourceologist” and “theologian” by a friend of mine and I realized that I have always been a consultant in many different areas. I was good at researching and finding resources for individuals whether it was in finances, grants, education, Bible, mental health, emotional health and physical health.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

WOW! I had to unlearn how to do Church, who Jesus (God) was and my own personal walk with Jesus. I know this is crazy but as an adult I had to unlearn what I knew about Jesus. I have been in Church all of my life but I came to Christ by watching a movie called “Burning Hell”. This movie scared me into my salvation. I grew up knowing God to be a disciplinarian and if I did anything wrong I would automatically go to Hell. I had to unlearn all of that when I learned that because of the Cross there is grace. I had to learn Jesus as my provider, my Savior and my Lord. I had to learn that it was not church that saved me but Christ Jesus himself.

Have you ever had to pivot?

One major pivot in life I had to adjust to was moving from Charlotte NC to Atlanta Ga October 2014. My statement was “I was born in Charlotte, NC and I will die in Charlotte, NC. However I was instructed by God to move to Atlanta Ga. I had an Abraham experience. God told me to leave my family and go to a place, He will show me and I was hesitant but I kept hearing the same message and finally stepped out and was obedient. It was hard for me moving to Atlanta, but now I call Atlanta home. My businesses have prospered since being in the Atlanta area.
