We recently connected with Ashleigh Anderson and have shared our conversation below.
Ashleigh, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
My defining moment would have to be when I realized I was going to be a full-time entrepreneur. I had just completed my first year as a high school teacher (during Covid) and was struggling in my PhD program. I couldn’t balance my power lifting training time with class time and everything was so overwhelming, I felt like I had to choose. And I did. I chose Ashlete! I decided it was time to pause my academic career and follow my passion for fitness. If it’s for me, it’ll be back. It’s been an amazing, unexpected and wild ride but I don’t regret my decision. I wish I made it sooner.
Ashleigh, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
hey y’all! I’m Ash. I’m a Tampa native who loves eating, lifting and nature. I also love assisting individuals in their fitness journey by sculpting the body of their dreams. I’m always up for a challenge. My goal is to improve your lifestyle habits, reach your health & fitness goals and bring the Ashlete/athlete out of you!
I offer lots of services for overall health such as: raw, natural supplements, raw juices, cupping & scraping massage therapy and nutrition plans, all in addition to one-on-one and group training!
What sets me a part from others is my consistency, dedication and grit. Those three values I try to instill into everyone I meet. As a vegetarian on the “smaller” side,it was hard to gain healthy weight until I began lifting heavier and eating wholesome foods. I want to give all of my clients the exact same feeling of taking control of their lifestyle and becoming their very own #BodyGoal.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
“If it doesn’t work, move on to the next thing.” Not (always) true! In the fitness industry, you have to get creative! The industry is growing and I sometimes feel like things aren’t working and I’m wasting my time. But I’m learning to look at it from a different perspective before throwing in the towel. Have I asked a mentor? Have I taken a break from it? Have I tried another way? Keep chipping away at it! You won’t be good at first, but you don’t have to be. You just have to go for it.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
To keep being consistent. Whether that’s with posting content or working out, you have to remain consistent. Potential clientele will do research before booking you so they need to see how consistent you are with your own journey before they trust you with theirs. I’ve built clientele online by interacting with them consistently, engaging on their posts and actually caring!
