We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jas Reese a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jas, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe success is a state of mind. It’s all an unique journey meaning what I considered successful can be seen differently to others. I am a firm believer in “private parties” before “public parties”. Private parties are the ones you have within yourself. Starting with celebrating even the smallest daily accomplishments .

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
“Lil muva” started off as an instagram name as another way to say “lil mama” but it quickly became the foundation to my brand. I always wanted anyone I meet to feel like a celebrity and to know I treasure the moments they give me which is how I came up with my podcast name, Muva moments. Muva Moments podcast started as a way to give people a voice including your neighbor, local influencers, and friends I meet along the way. It’s a safe space where guests or even guests’ topics that they decide to send in gets a moment in the spotlight. A home where your thoughts, opinions, topics, feelings, and most importantly voice is heard. I am beyond proud that it’s turned into something bigger than I could’ve imagined. Muva moments podcast has not only helped others including myself but inspires listeners to look at life in a different way. Point of view (how others perceive you), art expression and even intentional fires are just a few of many episodes tailored to understanding ones own self in order to understand others.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media has been the best way to keep my followers, listeners, and supporters updated. The two main pieces of advices I will always give to people about being a social media presence is: look at Instagram as a resume and network outside of social media. These two factors effectively helped build my audience. Instagram is fun but it can also be a business resume. Take a look at your instagram, what do you think when you view it? Also, networking outside of social media is so important mainly because when you have that genuine in person interaction they are more than likely to support anything you have to other. It can be as simple as one follower today turns into thirty a week. This breeds authentic social media interaction.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Consistency! I believe the only thing that stops people from being their own definition of successful is because they stop too soon or get comfortable. When I started my podcast, I wanted to be known as “that podcast lady” and I molded my life to that. I believe my consistent nature has helped my reputation and inspired some of peers to join this ever growing podcast market.
