We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Fabian a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Let’s see… How I chose the name ‘Palms and Places Imagery.’ Let me tell you, a LOT of thought went into choosing the perfect name. -I didn’t want it to be JUST my name because I love working with others and strive to continue growing my team with amazing photographers like the ones I have now!
-I didn’t want it to JUST talk about weddings, because, while my passion is being a part of the best day of your lives, I also live to see you through those small moments, the birthday, anniversaries, new puppy, new baby, all of it. I want to be in my clients lives for a VERY long time.
-I didn’t want it to JUST talk about Charleston because other than photography, my other major passion is TRAVEL! The world is beautiful and life is short! I plan on seeing everything I can while capturing lives best and biggest moments. Travel is what keeps my passion for capturing this life alive.
So I knew a lot about what I didn’t want in a company name…. but that didn’t get me too far haha It took a lot of back and forth, but I finally came up with Palms and Places Imagery… And here’s why….
The Palm tree does represent my home here in the low country, but palm trees are also found in all parts of the world in places where I would LOVE to capture a wedding! Some of my favorite palm tree views are the Caribbean (obviously) Arizona, and Hawaii.
The ‘Places’ in Palms and Places represents the places I want my passions and creativity to take me. Again, travel is what keeps my passion for capturing this beautiful life alive.
So long story kind of short. That’s the story behind the name Palms and Places Imagery! :)

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Andrea, the owner/founder of Palms and Places Imagery. I am a low-country native, but dream of traveling the world with my camera! My passion is traveling, ‘Friend’s’ re-runs, my two one-hundred-pound-lapdogs, (yes, you read that right) and dance of all sorts!
I founded Palms and Places Imagery after working for years with a wedding photography company based in Columbia, SC. While I had an amazing time there, and learned a ton, I wanted to focus my efforts in creating an amazing experience for my couples from the moment they inquire, that centers around my relationship with them, plus producing amazing images!. You see, in order for me to be able to capture the purest, most intimate moments, I need to know more than just a name and instagram handle. I need to know about your first date, the moment you knew they were the one, your favorite activities to do together, and so much more! I have created this company to give you the most unforgettable, wedding experience, filled with laughs, adventures, and REAL connections with REAL people.

Have you ever had to pivot?
COVID was a huge pivotal point for the entire wedding industry. 2/3 of the weddings I had booked for 2020 canceled or rescheduled within 2 weeks. It was pretty scary… However, I took that opportunity to create an A La Carte menu so that regardless if it’s a backyard elopement, micro wedding, or large 250 person wedding, my clients can find exactly what suits their wedding day. I also took the extra time to teach myself web design and SEO and completely redid my website.
I tried to stay positive during COVID and find as many learning opportunities as possible.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
For many in the wedding industry, my main source of new clients is referrals. If it’s from past clients telling their friends, or vendors whom I’ve worked with in the past. Word of mouth and trust in others experience is highly valuable.
