Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mackenzie Stanley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Mackenzie , appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

In March of 2021, I made the decision to start my business – Socials With Kenz! I had always felt like entrepreneurship would take a spot in my life, but I never knew to what extent. Although I am so grateful for taking that step, there were a lot of mental hurdles to overcome.

In the beginning of 2021 I was working a part time job at a boutique while going to college. I took over the social media account and had so much fun creating video content! I enjoyed my job much more than school so I started to ask the question, “Am I really meant to go to college?” Once I started asking myself that question, I became excited and anxious about what the future would hold. After all, I felt the pressure of society to get a college degree and work a 9-5.

One of my favorite parts about social media is creating community and it’s honestly what made me quit college. I was able to continue to foster a community on my boss’s page and it not only made a difference in her business but in the lives of her customers. Experiencing the impact that a positive social media post made on people was really what made me say “screw the risk!”

Today my business mostly focuses on creating social media content and it has shaped into something I could not have imagined! Even though it was scary to start something new, I’m so glad that I did!

Hi there! My name is Kenzie and I own Socials With Kenz. I help small business owners and creatives build community on their pages through engaging social media content. My main services include creating content ideas and creating the actual content to deliver to my clients.

The problem that I wanted to solve in my industry is that social media can feel so fake and “salesy”. There is such a bigger purpose to the platforms that we use on a daily basis and I wanted to use that for good and to help people feel less alone in the world.

I’m proud that I create content that brings people together! Whether a post is created with the intention to inspire, educate, or entertain, I truly love that a few seconds on someone’s feed can brighten their day.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

One of my favorite things that I love to tell people is that my clients almost always turn into close friends. Yes I love providing an impactful service to people, but there’s a bigger picture that I focus on. The relationships that I have built during this journey is priceless.

I actually just got off of the phone with a client who quickly became a best friend of mine. She has been with me for almost my entire entrepreneur journey and on the hard days, I remember that building meaningful relationships through every walk of life is my WHY!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

There are so many podcasts that have helped me along this journey, but one of my favorites is SHE by Jordan Lee Dooley. She does an amazing job of fostering community on her social media pages and I truly look up to her!
