We were lucky to catch up with Troy Richardson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Troy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

I wanted to honor the legacy of my late mother Dorothy Gray Richardson. She loved her beauty products especially having a beautiful glowing skin. She was also a gospel singer and a community caregiver always pouring love into others.

INOJ means Inspiring the Name of Jesus and that is what my mother always did.

The skin care line is for everyone no matter what the relationship is with God. I was taught this important principle. ❤️

INOJ is an all natural vegan based skin care line of products. We carry clay and gel facial mask, toners and moisturizers as well as cleansers. We also have a pain cream to rub on those shoulders and nose feet to give you relaxation and relief

Our products fill a void affordable natural skin care products for every skin type and skin color. Our products are used by everyday hardworking people who care about their skin and also by estheticians that take care of other s skin.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Many years ago I came to the realization that everybody that is in your life is not meant to be in your business. It is natural to want the people you know to be part of your journey but sometimes that does not work out because of various reasons. Most people do not understand the dedication and the commitment that it takes to be successful along with the sacrifices. I had to walk away from some people that could not understand my mindset. Your journey is not about pleasing others and making them feel good it is about fulfilling that destiny that has been put into your heart so that you can impact the many lives that your business and your services will impact.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Resilience is a quality you must have in business and in life. You will fall and you will fail multiple times over the course of your life and your business endeavors. Your products will not be received or liked by everyone and that’s okay. Embrace any criticism and feedback. Always celebrate those milestones for example that one client who raves about your products and tells others.
