We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kassandra Hill. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kassandra below.
Hi Kassandra , thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I launched Rubie Designs Web Consulting Agency at the height of the pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests. As I’m sure it was for so many others, it was a complicated, emotionally charged time for me. Launching a business only added to that storm of feelings, but I’m so grateful that I did. In many ways, creating RDG was my way of helping myself and my community break generational curses.
In 2020, I officially launched Rubie Designs Web Consulting Agency. I wanted this company to give my community, nationwide, the ability to get their businesses online. But I didn’t want to just give them a beautiful design. I wanted to give them the tools necessary to build a sustainable business.
This inspired me to develop Empire University. We developed a program called Empire Pathways Program. This program was designed to help new and established business owners develop their websites.
Rubie Designs Web Consulting Agency is an end-to-end web development and business consulting agency helping entrepreneurs and business owners to prepare to embody the CEO role and launch their business online with ease and confidence.
We work with our clients to develop a responsive website that accurately reflects their brand message, values, and target audience while providing a seamless customer experience that ultimately drives conversions and sales. Our team can also help you align your website and business operations with efficient and effective software systems that will grow with your business.

5. MARKETING BLACK PRINT ROAD MAP
6. REVENUE STREAMS AQUA PRINT ROADMAP
Rubie Designs Web Consulting Agency builds more than just websites – we build EMPIRES!
Ultimately, my vision is to empower my community to activate their purpose and break generational curses. I wanted Rubie Designs Web Consulting Agency, to be the go-to resource for all the details needed to execute those visions. Rubie Designs has now helped over 60 different industries’ business owners get online during the pandemic. Now they have the power to sustain their businesses and help build generational wealth for their families and communities nationwide.
Kassandra , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
You see, I grew up in the foster care system. My mother’s rights were terminated when I was 4 years old and, over the years, I moved through 52 different placements all over Colorado. I have the distinct memory of being on Wednesday’s Child with Channel 4 and making pizza, hoping to find a family.
Unfortunately, that day never came. I stayed in the foster care system until I was 17 when I was emancipated. I remember being at Denver Social Services that day. They threw a huge celebration for all the foster children leaving the system and asked me to be the keynote speaker at the event.
I was so nervous writing my speech; it was my first time speaking publicly. Honestly, it was all kind of a blur. I just remember talking about understanding that the past does not define you – if you set out to make a difference in the world, your future will be blessed.
To my surprise, after my speech, one of the speakers announced the winner of a scholarship and laptop. It was me! I was so excited, smiling ear-to-ear with my foster mother. Little did I know they took a picture of that pivotal moment and put it on the front cover of the Denver Post in June 2005. It was truly an honor to be celebrated and chosen as the winner.
I graduated as class valedictorian that year as well and also served as the keynote speaker at the ceremony. In that speech, I spoke about purpose, dreams, and vision. I wanted everyone to be encouraged that day. We had victory over the barriers, storms, and cycles of trauma – the rest of our lives would be defined by the choices we were just about to make. Our mindset had to be that we can make it through anything and soar to higher heights. This was a new chapter for me, and I had to learn how to take care of myself.
I ended up using my scholarship along with the WIA program and became a certified nurse assistant (CNA). I learned so much from the training I received from St Luke’s Ministries CNA training school. When I landed my first job, it sparked my passion for healthcare.
As time went on, life definitely came in seasons. The first few years were rough, getting adjusted to living on my own. At 21, I volunteered for a council through Urban Peak. We selected the name for the new school, Urban Peak Learning, to inspire other young adults to get excited about learning. By the end of that year, I started to get the hang of living on my own. When something devastating shook my world and shaped who I am today.
My neighbor stabbed me in the head – someone I was helping, no less. At the time, I was watching his little brother. My life would never be the same.
I began hiding from the world. Of course, I had to do something to keep myself busy. So, I focused on the one thing I could really control – my learning.
I really enjoyed computers. It was one of my favorite classes in high school. Because I was in Special Education, I wasn’t allowed to attend classes with regular students. I was put in special classes largely because of my dyslexia, but I also had some behavioral issues from being in the foster care system. Still, I always knew my education would take me further in life than I could ever dream of.
God was developing me in my isolation and as I rebuilt my life, I learned a lot about two particular areas I was passionate about – healthcare and computers.
In 2008, I became homeless after going through an abusive relationship. I found my way to the Samaritan House Homeless Shelter. In order to get back into housing, I had to take classes at the Stout Street Clinic. On my last day of classes, I was elated to let everyone know I had enrolled in college.
I enrolled in the Community College of Denver. Attending college was so exciting! However, because I had always been in Special Education classes, I actually didn’t test at the college level. But I didn’t let that stop me. I worked my way up from Junior High School classes until I was able to test at the college level.
In the first few years of college, I was able to make great strides in my learning with the access center on campus for persons with disabilities. Even better, my professors were absolutely amazing.
As I worked my way through college, I was still homeless, living at the Samaritan House. During that time, I worked as a bathroom attendant at the clubs in the downtown Larimer Square area. I also had two other jobs on campus. I would start my mornings working on campus as a parking attendant. Then, In the afternoon, I would work for 4 hours as a barista on campus. At night, I would work in the clubs as a bathroom attendant.
Things were looking up! I finally saved up enough money to get an apartment. Eventually, I was able to find a higher paying job. I learned how to drive and started doing more work in the nursing homes as a CNA. One day, I met a nurse who hired me to work in her residential assisted living. I fell in love with serving others in their time of need.
So, as I continued my education, I declared my major in Healthcare Management with a minor in Financial Services. That day, I knew I had found my purpose to serve others. I also became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. I took two classes at a time because I wanted to give myself time to become an administrator of an assisted living.
After being a CNA for 17 years, I decided to open a group home and become a host home provider for persons with disabilities. Thus, Liberty Healthcare Solutions was founded. Over the years, I studied the Healthcare System of Colorado and worked in multiple areas. I built my Assisted Living business throughout college. I finally graduated in 2021 from Metro State University of Denver. It took me about 10 years to complete, but I did it.
Somewhere along the way, I also developed a passion for computers, website software, and business. During that 15 years, I dedicated myself to learning every aspect of these topics. I now know over 425 different systems.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I owe everything to God! I faced many storms throughout my life and with his love, support, development, and correction. I wouldn’t have made it out or built resilience. I started my second company Rubie Designs Web Consulting Agency during college to help me focus as I healed. I had to learn to balance my group home Liberty Healthcare Solutions, college, and healing from being stabbed in the head and the abusive relationship. I had to rebuild my confidence and trust. and start a new version of myself.
I started a personal development journey to find my voice again. I joined New Hope Family Worship led by Bishop R.C. Blake. Jr. and his Cyber Community online church. My church helped me make it through many hard times during this 10-year transition in my life. Every week I tune into his teachings, books, and online courses. I appreciate his leadership and guidance.
As well as in 2018, I become a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and started helping my community through workshops and events.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I also started reading Dr. Eddie Connor’s books and followed his teachings through his personal development academies over the past 6 years. Dr. Eddie Connor Jr. had a major impact on my mindset and perspective of finding and activating my purpose and gifts from God. He became a great friend and Leader. I had found my support system and a place where I could bloom where I was planted!!!
Dr. Eddie inspired me to live again and this time live on purpose for a purpose.! My mindset shifted as I approached life and business. Under Dr. Eddie’s leadership I have been able to grow in every way, spiritually, personally, mentally, and financially.
More importantly, I found God!!! I can SOAR again as a “Leading Lady” for God!
Without God, I wouldn’t have made it this far or been able to rebuild my life. As I allowed God to heal me from the inside and out, I was able to empower the world through web development. Furthermore, I was able to provide a safe environment for persons with disabilities to rejoin their community and live fulfilling lives. I am forever thankful and grateful for God placing Dr. Eddie in my life along with Bishop R.C. Blake and my New Home Family. Lastly, I am just blessed to know God covers me and loves me through it all. Thank GOD LOVE YOU! 4kisses two hearts 1 love.
