We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kevin Reinoso. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kevin below.
Kevin, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
The first time I ever earned money from a club was when I had my first club gig at Heart Nightclub in Downtown Miami. I was 17 years old, and my cousin Orestes was a promoter at the moment at the same club. He got me a gig and i remember i was so excited but also so nervous because it would be the first club i ever played, I was downloading music and organizing playslists for days, I figured out how to connect my laptop to the CDJs which at the moment i did not even know how to in the first place, lots of tutorials just to be sure and then the day came. Lots of friends came to show support and it was awesome, gladly no mistakes even though i was nervous not going to lie there.. but from there i knew that this is what i wanted to do…After a few months i became a resident for almost a year, and from there everything just started to fall in place and started to get booked for other clubs.

Kevin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those of you who do not know me I am a DJ & Producer, my whole family is from Cuba, but I was born and raised in Venezuela, moved to Miami 10 years ago. I first started to dig into music when I was 12-13 years old. I have always been surrounded by music because my dad is actually a fan of music so since I was a kid, he would always be blasting some good music from the living room while living in our apartment. He bought a DJ mixer console, the ones where you could only use CDs, just for decoration. But i got so intrigued and I started to play around with it, started to burn CDs with music and basically learned by myself, from there I started to play music at family events around 14, started to play around fruity loops (now FL Studio) started to edit songs (mashups), then started to remix and finally making my own songs. From there i have always tried to do things that set me apart from others by truly searching for my sound while enjoying the process… That is why you will notice I have songs from different genres, because I enjoy making music, pushing my limits while getting better in the music production aspect.. As well with playing live shows, I try to always connect with the crowd, while selecting the tunes i love that i am sure people will love too.

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
As of now I truly believe I have found my own unique sound and I’m working really hard to polish it and make the most out of it while in a way showing everybody “Hey! This is the real me! So this year has been an amazing creative journey which I have been able to develop my production and live set productions in a way I have never done before.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist, in this case for me DJ and producer is definitely getting messages after a show telling me that they really liked how I played and that they had a lot of fun, also love seeing people dancing and vibing my music, there’s truly no better feeling, it just does not get better than that.
