We recently connected with Kaprice Monet and have shared our conversation below.
Kaprice, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I would’ve started sooner forsure, I doubted myself and its helped me grow but also held me back from alot. I was told no at the first modeling auditions I went to in college and to this day I’m still not sure why but that made me want it more. I tried out again that next semester and made it. In the beginning I was more determined and if Id kept this momentum going I know Id be further in my creative career.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I started modeling in college and my business selling lash strips shortly after, this has expanded and I now offer brow services as well. Currently I model my work includes working for clothing brands, fashion shows, photoshoots, video shoots, ambassadors deals, content creation & more. Since I started taking my modeling career serious Ive gained more experience, have become more disciplined and prepared so that when opportunities present themselves, I’m ready. Im most proud of my growth and how far I’ve come, I never realized how much I doubted myself until I was on the other side of it which is complete confidence in myself and my capabilities. Im growing and learning everyday, always be open to this. Think big, sometimes you have to see it before you can achieve it. Some people focus on being like others , others focus on being “different” when all we have to do is be ourselves. I embrace who I am fully and this is what sets me apart. I enjoy modeling a lot and I plan to continue building my brand. I also have a YouTube channel ‘KapriceMonet’ so my supporters can follow along this journey with me.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started getting more opportunities to work and every chance I got I promoted myself. You are walking promotion of your brand, In person I would tell people especially fellow creatives to follow me on instagram. Networking is key in this field, I cant tell you how many opportunities Ive gotten through just having conversations or by word of mouth. I also focused on how my social media looked and posted more often, instagram truly is like your resume.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly Im already living the dream, I love what I do but theres still everyday responsibilities that cause me to put this on hold when Id rather pursue a full-time career as a creative. This is where my drive comes from. Getting paid as a creative, making a career of modeling so that I can wake up and do what I love everyday is what keeps me going.
