Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicholas Castro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nicholas, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
here is the short cut version. Dating all the way back to elementary school, I’ve always had an interest in fashion from shoes down to accessories. Even my wife quickly noticed my obsession with fashion. She would always say “it’s like you’re having an affair on me with fashion.” This is how MYFA (My Fashion Affair) was born!
My wife inspired me to take the leap of faith and put items that I think are fire into the world.
My brand is inspired by streetwear across the globe. I love to rock high and low end items together and decided to create a line that fits between both spectrums.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a heavy set guy I’ve always been a fashionable person, I can’t be big and sloppy at the same time and so appearance has always been important to me and because is that, I dress how I want to be addressed.
I have the eye to easily pair things together whether it matches or not. One thing about me is I’m extremely confident when it comes to my attire when I step out in public.
I am my own walking brand to where I’ve became the to go person that people reach out to and provide my opinion on certain looks, trends, what works or does’t work. I’m referring to men and women as well.
Starting a clothing brand has always been something that I’ve always wanted to do and I can honestly say that I’m blessed to have the opportunity to live out one of my dreams. I never really wanted to sell anything and instead just wanted to create pieces to wear for myself but, it just didn’t make sense to have a clothing brand that others couldn’t wear as well.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I actually started my journey back in 2019 and was discouraged multiple time throughout the way. I think I quit like 15 times before I finally found the right manufacturer that could get it right. Every time I would quit, I would buy someone else brand and just to tear it apart mentally on what I can do better.
But, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge someone who motivated me to keep pushing forward. One of my younger frat brother who also has a clothing brand, who I’ve supported and purchased items from, told me to just put it out there because he knew I wanted to pursue this.
I also had a close friend the same age as me who I grew up with suddenly pass within months of finding out he had cancer. That’s happened earlier this year. It was an eye opener that life is short and that I’d rather die with failure vs live with regret.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m literally going on 5 months since I launched my clothing line and I’m constantly having to pivot as I hit roadblocks. I learned that planning is extremely important that’s that I have to plan each collection I release 3-4 months in advance. I’m constantly learning as I go.
I know that my clothing isn’t for everyone especially when I’m entering the luxury streetwear market. I’m in the process of revamping my website along with all my social media outlets. I can’t charge luxury prices if photos don’t look professional. I had to bite the bullet and budget funds to pay a photographer vs using my iPhone. This whole process has been a learning curve for me.
