We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aaron Lee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
During My k-12 school years, I always had more ambitions towards the creative hands-on classes. It felt more natural and interesting. When deciding to pursue a college decision I switched from Business Administration to Art Studios. I was reading a book on planning a creative career. I can remember the goosebumps all up on my back and arms. Tears started to fall and I knew at that moment I wanted to be a creative!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My approach on my creative ideology would be ignoring formality and professionalism. It completely ruins the flow of how we can create. No expectations just move around and feel what is upon us. What can the present moment bring to us right now. I try to ignore the fact that I’m taking pictures, but trying to bring the environment, the mood, the moment together for whatever I’m feeling at the moment. It switches up frequently.
I love nature and everything earthy. Dark and moody is also earthy as well. Anything that expresses or invokes a feeling is definitely more for me. Pulling that concept into a more fashion focused few is my end goal. To become a accessories designer and simply a painter.
I’m most proud of is finally feeling comfortable with myself. I went years and years not even trying to find who I am and just let external forces define me and my worth. Later when I no longer submitted to assumption around me things no longer functioned the same and I felt powerless. Finding that inner power and fire in yourself is the best thing you can do for yourself.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Most rewarding aspect is executing exactly what you envisioned. As a creative and specially for myself it is really hard to do that. Sometimes it doesn’t happen at all but when it does it so rewarding and extremely satisfying.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Earlier in my career I wished I used social media to actually be social instead of being entertained. Social media is so powerful and when used correctly can be the perfect aspect!
