We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Corey Coleman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Corey, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I created my business Infinite Life Creations 247 in early 2015. It was created during a time where I was going through a period of self re-discovery. I was at the worst point my life has ever been, and I had to figure out exactly what I wanted. Throughout my life all I had done was give people what they wanted instead of what I wanted. In the end, that left me very empty inside. One night, while praying, I asked for direction and what action needed to be taken so that I could get my life back on track.

The answer I received was that “You need to look within and see what you enjoyed as a child”. At that moment, I realized that it was art. I have loved to create art since I was a child. That led me to re-learning how to draw. During the process of learning how to draw, I came up with an idea to create a business that would allow me to make money from my artwork. I had a couple names but eventually Infinite Life Creations 247 was the name that stuck. Deep down I know this was divine guidance, and I followed every prompting. Anytime there was doubt, it was met with confirmation. My success continued to grow, and I also grew more as an individual and professional.

Everyday afterwards was dedicated to me building my skills, network, platform, and clientele. During this time I also started building on my comic project Shaolin Moorz which will actually be going live this year on Kickstarter 12/2/22. Shaolin Moorz is a mashup of my two favorite cultural interests: African and Asian lore. I know that this series is different because it is designed in a way so everyone could enjoy it and not have the trouble of everyday life taking away from a great story.

The thing that was most exciting about this idea was that I have been able to be myself fully and find balance in my own life. I am hoping that my experience and struggles will help others get in alignment with their own paths.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?

My name is Corey Coleman (Obe), and I am the innovator and creator of my upcoming comic project Shaolin Moorz. I created this project 7 years ago and have built it from the ground up. I’ve invested time and my own money in order to be able to bring this concept to life. This idea was gifted to me from the Universe, and I’ve cultivated it into the visuals that you are experiencing today. I am grateful for the opportunity to share such an awesome gift with you all to experience. I’m an artist who was born and raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. During my childhood I grew up desiring to see characters that looked like me in my favorite genre of entertainment which is anime.

When I was younger a lot of anime content lacked diversity of any kind. During my college years I lost my way and didn’t know who I was or what my purpose was in life. Through trial and error, all roads led back to my first love: art. I was led to start learning how to draw myself as I actually look, and through that journey, Shaolin Moorz was born.

My journey is beautiful to me because all of the life lessons, successes, failures and most importantly the evolution that I’ve experienced over these years helped me to learn what it truly takes to be a balanced human in this world and live from a space of giving love. This story is injected with so many life lessons, action, scenarios and culture that anyone and everyone can enjoy. Shaolin Moorz will be a 3 part comic that blends the cultures of African and Asian lore with a splash of modern society.

The thing that sets me apart from others is my focus on living a balanced life by incorporating the method of taking care of one’s physical, mental, spiritual, and financial health to obtain optimum performance and joy in life. By performing at an optimum level, one can achieve their wildest dreams in relation to their purpose.

I’m most proud of being able to share my accomplishments, struggles, lessons and wisdom gained during my journey with the hopes that they will be able to help others achieve success in their lives. I’ve worked with some of the most amazing clients/creatives in the world that truly pursued their vision and purpose in life.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

The biggest thing I learned while working in corporate was that paying people their price, letting them know how much they are valued, and building them up personally/professionally will encourage teammates to make sure their tasks are taken care of. A lot of times when people don’t feel valued, that’s where you start to see the morale drop and taper off. There’s nothing wrong with giving those that are helping build your dreams. Help them build theirs as well. It’s all about reciprocation. Any leader needs to take time to listen to feedback from their team just as much as giving direction. They would be surprised at how much they learn.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

There were a few things that I felt contributed to my strong reputation in this market. Those things are being myself and focusing on what values I felt improved me as an individual, Being genuinely interested in others and their journeys, supporting other artists/creatives through commission work/ sharing my platform with them, and promoting my journey of personal development/project work. All of these key points helped my brand develop its own unique feel amongst my peers.
