We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tre Bennett a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tre, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I believe the biggest risk I’ve taken is deciding to become a full time basketball trainer over this past year. The decision to do so wasn’t necessarily the easiest decision but it was a decision I felt that needed to be made in order for me to reach my full potential as an entrepreneur. I took the risk because I wanted to be more available for my clients year round. I knew that being available part time would only stunt the growth of my brand. I felt that it was time to go all in on my business.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am currently a professional basketball trainer. Prior to becoming a professional basketball trainer, I was a professional basketball player in Europe for about 3 years. Basketball has been a part of my life since a very early age. I grew up playing in the Houston area and I always had such a passion for the game as a player and now trainer. With my training I provide clients with a multitude of creative drills and knowledge I’ve learned over the years. Being that I stepped away from playing the game only a few years ago, I bring a unique perspective to my clients from a coaches and players point of view. Im able to relate to them more frequently than most probably would. I feel that there are many things that sets me apart from the average trainer. One being that I have the ability to actually demonstrate to my clients how certain drills are supposed to be correctly done. Im also able to personally show them the speed in which they should be going in order to be successful in a real game situation. I’m most proud of the growth that my brand has made over the past year. I believe it’s made big strides in the right direction all of 2022. I want potential clients/ followers to know that I’m not afraid to go the extra mile and my priority is the development of the athlete.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been a combination of social media and through word of mouth. In my opinion, they both play an important role.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think just being consistent with my craft helped build my reputation within my market. Being available for clients and able to be versatile in my training approach. Every player has something different they want to build on within their game and my willingness to consistently deliver legitimate trainings geared towards their target area has helped tremendously.
