We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessie V a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jessie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew was when I first seen 106and park on BET and that was 21 years ago

Jessie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I can remember the time when I was staying in Georgia with my parents and I was a part of the group The KC MO Bucks, and me and my brother did not have no understanding on what was to happen next so we ran away from home from Georgia all the way from Georgia to Kansas City Missouri not knowing that a contract was to be signed for BME and dynasty records. WE HAD RAN AWAY CUZ WE HAD NO UNDERSTANDING of what it was to be famous we thought our lives as a child we’re taking and we wanted to be a child again because becoming an entertainer you have a lot of responsibilities and a lot of things to take care of so know what you’re stepping in before you step into it.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my view society can do more of supporting local artists because they are artists as well and some of them artists are some of the big artists that they listen to in the long run. Society needs to understand that if we support our community it will be a greater place the artist that are in our community helps the community most of the time and the ones that they support don’t even come to the net town that they’re in.
