We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Victor Walker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Victor, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I co managed rap artist V.I.C…he was a artist that was independent and really working hard to be discovered… after signing to our management company we were able to secure a major record deal and lead off his major recording career with a gold selling single… after the release of the album the label eventually dropped us after of 2nd single…. through hard work and god’s will… after over 10 years the single “wobble” was certified 4x platinum
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began my musical journey as a teenager in highschool I used to make cassette tapes with the latest hiphop songs on them,I began my radio and television career in Atlanta ga with rnation and state wide television video show on WRFG 89.3fm a community radio station that specializes in hand picked music and news I started creating media content and streaming music 6 years ago utilizing YouTube, Facebook and all popular social media platforms
I created a podcast “country rap report” which has become a primary source of information for the genre of country rap
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As a artist manager we were released from our record deal after dropping our 2nd single… basically it flopped…but through hard work and perseverance 11 years after it’s release we were certified 4x platinum
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
About 2 years ago I wasn’t getting the traction I desired covering the hiphop community so I started to deep dive in the fast growing genre of country rap and began to obtain the viewership and audience I desired
