Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Geisinger. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Taylor, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Oh boy.. I think it takes a little bit of obsession and a little bit of luck. For sure, It takes a lot of sacrifice. I guess it all depends on the individual’s perspective. For me, it took some growing up. I hated living paycheck to paycheck. I hated working jobs that brought me little to no joy. Most of all, I hated waking up early!! I am a night owl, so mornings are not for me. I knew I had to change something, and that was enough for me. I followed the ole fashioned saying, “Do what ya love, and you won’t have to work a day in your life.” It’s not exactly true. I love it, but it IS work. Constantly thinking. Constantly critiquing yourself, and comparing yourself to others.. it takes a lot of effort and determination to be successful. You have to put in those man (WOman) hours.
I want to be happy in this life, and I don’t want to worry about not being able to support my family. So, I have to be successful for them.
Taylor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Howdy! My name is Taylor, and my photography business is TG Photography. I’m a lifestyle photographer. My real profession is people. I’m an extroverted introvert, and this has lead me to being super curious of humans. I really think everyone’s lives are so intricate. It’s kind of cool to find myself in my clients stories. My main focus is to give each and everyone a little snippet into their own story. I love focusing on the details that they may not see happen. I like to give them a different view of what they see/feel, from my lens. An outside looking in perspective. I really try to focus on having fun with my clients, and making them feel comfortable behind the lens. The best perk is making so many new friends!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Ugh, that’s a hard one! There are so many rewarding aspects. First of all, I love having variety to my days! Shooting all types of sessions let’s me use different parts of my brain. Every day is different and unique.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
You mean besides paying off my student loans?! Ha, just kidding. Kinda. Honestly my main goal is to support my family. I have young kids, and nothing is more important than quality time with them. If I’m always on my toes, and giving everyone creatively unique images, I will be able to keep us afloat! The main goal is to have a good “work”/play ratio.
