We were lucky to catch up with Angela Arnold recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Angela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being authentic truly drives success within the Tarot community. One of the things that I find that I do differently than some others is that I am my true self during readings – I don’t put on a show for entertainments sake. There have been many who sit with me that do so with a skeptical mindset. After we chat for a few minutes they tend to open their mind to what’s possible. At the end of these readings the most common comment I hear is “I had no idea it would be like this.” Those skeptics have usually sat down with others readers and did not have the best of experiences, so being true to myself and my communication style has helped open a new line of thought for skeptics.
Angela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As the daughter and only child of an Airman in the US Air Force, I found myself in a foreign country with a bike and nothing but time on my hands. At the ripe old age of 12, I hopped on my bike and explored the beautiful German country side. In a small town two towns away I came across an old pub and general store. Stepping in the door, the smell of old building and stale beer was quite overwhelming. Luckily my eyes had begun to adjust to the dimly lit room and I found myself in a very eclectic little store packed to the ceiling! It was here, way in the back corner that I came across the Rider White Tarot deck. Having no idea what they were or how to use them, naturally I decided to buy them. Why you ask? Mostly because I was 12 but also because it was in English!
I’m an intuitive Tarot card reader and mentor; a creative with a conscience if you will. I’ve been fascinated with Tarot and its teachings for close to 30 years. I have always found reading the cards to be very calming while providing a certain clarity and perspective in all areas of life. Tarot teaches us to pause and explore a situation from different angles and possibilities, allowing us to meet life head on and move forward with confidence.
I am here to help you navigate all your endeavors. From the day-to-day struggles to your wildest dreams and everything in between! Before we begin I should probably mention I’ve been known to use profanity here and there, but never in a hurtful way. If this is a deal breaker I completely understand and wish you well on your journey. As a Tarot reader I believe I must remain authentic and true to self. Please know that all readings and discussions are 100% confidential and nonjudgmental, as this information pertains to you and your journey and is not mine to share.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
The idea of Inner Circle Tarot had been brewing within me for years without me even knowing it. I had been giving readings for friends and family on a pretty regular basis. But I never thought it would be anything more than that even though these same friends kept saying I should do it for a living. It wasn’t until I was at a local market and saw another tarot reader did I even consider it. At the beginning of the pandemic I lost my job in the corporate world and, together with my husband, made the decision to dive into being a full-time professional tarot reader. I spent quite a bit of time developing the foundation of my business – online presence, creating different offerings including virtual readings because it was a pandemic after all, social media presence, etc. Once that foundation was established I signed up for my first market on Small Business Saturday weekend. It was a success right away so I knew at that moment that this was viable if I was willing to work hard for it.
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Tarot readings typically are cyclical when it comes to what people are looking for. There are times throughout the year that people tend to look inward (like New Year’s) so that timeframe tends offer greater opportunity for providing my services. During the times of the year that people focus more on others (holiday shopping) I find that the retail side of Inner Circle Tarot supplements the downturn in my bookings. By offering products that align with the metaphysical realm I am able to have that additional opportunity for revenue to maintain while the next cycle of introspection comes along.
