We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Devin Edwards a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Devin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success can be measured in so many ways. As a business owner money is the number one answer most people would say. For me it’s about my shop turning out the best quality work, all artist being extremely happy to come to work, and providing a great experience for the clients that come through the door. Once you’ve developed all this things… Then I believe your successful.

Devin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Legacy Tattoo Parlor was founded in 2020 right in the middle of Covid. Nine days past our grand opening our state shut us down. Surviving through this time to make it were we are today is by far my most proud moment. As for myself, I have 20 years experience in Management and had the dream of owning my own business. Sitting around with a friend at the time talking about a tattoo shop, this dream became a reality. Now 3 years later I have built the Brand up to be well known in our area. I spend a lot of time and money working with local charities to take care of our community. We are super vocal on Social Media and enjoy interacting with our clients online.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
You have to take care of your people. In this business your people control every aspect of your success. The biggest thing to remember is you must keep them engaged in the business. They need to feel like they’re a part of it. I include my team in all decisions I make here. We have weekly team huddles and monthly team meetings. I love the group of people I have. We have a family here and that’s something I’ve pushed for since the beginning.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
You have to been out and be visible. In the tattoo industry you have so much competition you always have to be up on your game. I’ve found out the use of Social Media is the number one best way to win over new clients. We’re heavily involved with many social media outlets. Although social media is free… Do not be afraid to spend money through them. The more exposure you can get, the better it will be for you in the long run. Don’t forget, once you’ve gotten these clients you must retain them. Customer experience is so very important.
