2011, Hot Commodity EyeWear LLC was founded in America by Shalandria McGlown-Allen. A Detroit Michigan resident. HC Eyewear, is committed to providing fashion forward eyewear that includes classic & timeless frames.
Our customer seeks being fashionable, vibrant visionary style, and a class act. As with the main principles of building any collection, our goal is to push the limits of quality. HC Eyewear is an online boutique with product placement in four Detroit, MI retail locations.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
As the owner of Hot Commodity EyeWear my goal has always been to Innovate, Cultivate and Elevate the all people in the world.
I added optical frames because it was necessary and essential. I didn’t have to working capital to do so. However, it push my business to another clientele. Showing growth doing my worst time in business.
The pandemic has shown me that digital marketing is so important. It helps with reaching out to customers globally. Building connections to push my business forward. Lastly, Fresh ideas to keep being creative.

Miami Fashion Week was my first large show. I worked 15 hours each day up until the show. The time wasn’t the issue because I am doing what I love. However, learning other’s ethics to remain focused on my mission was key to a successful show.
