We recently connected with Hassan Thomas and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hassan, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Let’s take it back to my senior year of college in 2019. I just tore my meniscus during the 5th week of the football season and my football career is now over.

I am writing my senior research paper of financial literacy of course and my cousin tells me that instead of turning that paper into a book, why don’t I turn it into an app?! Well I’m the person if I hear a great idea I’m going to turn that into IDEA into ACTION. So from September to December, I did nothing but research, research, research. After having my surgery in December, I told my mom when I get back to Tennessee I’m going to meet with facility and staff until I worked my way up to meet with the Dean and that’s exactly what I did when I got back.

After 15+ plus meeting on crutches — I secured my meeting with the Dean for March 3rd, 2020. After presenting my financial literacy resources to the Dean – I then was connected with a development team out in India who has developed our website and is currently finishing up our app.

Since graduating online due to COVID – FYI FLI has started a podcast with over 25,000+ downloads that has been listened to in 50+ countries, taught 30+ financial literacy classes to ages ranging from 5 to 60, have been featured in newspaper, radio, and podcasts, and not to mention we fully secured our business foundation with a company called Centsai that will allow us to pair our diverse and relatable content with a certified national curriculum that we can take to high schools and colleges.

Hassan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My brand FYI FLI: For Your Information: Financial Literacy and Investing, main goal is to promote financial literacy while eliminating financial illiteracy for our target market of high school, college, and recent grad students.

In order to become the number 1 financial literacy hub in the world we have created our award-winning podcast, website, app, and online resources that will bridge the gap between education and entertainment.

We also plan on implementing our certified financial curriculum into every high school and college in the world because as you can see from our podcast — money is a global language that everyone wants to speak!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve had to endure was going from College To Covid To becoming a CEO of my own company.

Over these last two years, I’ve had many first…Interviewing people, being interviewed, keynote speeches, in-person workshops at colleges and universities! The skills and confidence it took to perform at these events didn’t come natural — it was developed through education and action.

Learning and then applying the information I learned right away! This is how you overcome obstacles by keeping an open mind, learning new solutions, and implementing those solutions to put an end to the struggle you’re going through.

I believe everyone will go through internal and external struggles — but the key difference maker is your preparation. Proper preparation truly does prevent poor performance!

How’d you meet your business partner?

First let me tell you about my Chief Operations Officer, My MAMA! I have to shout her out for breathing and speaking life and greatness into me.

My mom has told me since I was a little boy that I was not made to be average! This is why I believe that we must speak life into our children and youth constantly because whenever my confidence was knocked down my mama would pick it right back up! I see this still holds for me today as my confidence can not be wavered by any man or woman!

Although my mom has played a huge role in my life, it truly takes a village to raise a child and a business LoL! Shoutout to my dad, who is the Chief Financial Officer of FYI FLI, as he has been an accountant for over 20 years!
