We were lucky to catch up with Coco Styles recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Coco , thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

As a tall woman, who struggled with finding clothes to fit my body type, I was sure other women had the same style dilemma as I did so, I decided to start a styling company to help women like me who struggled to be stylish with their work and leisure wear.

With thousands of brands popping up left and right, you would think one would cater to women, but that’s not the case. Most brands do not cater to tall women. They cater to average-size women or plus-size women, but not tall. It’s a constant struggle, but once I figured out the secret sauce, I had to share it.

Once I mapped out what I wanted to teach women, it would be life-changing for them. Not a quick fix, but teaching them strategy so they aren’t in the same style dilemma again.

There are plenty of personal stylists in my field, but I refer to myself, as a style coach. I teach strategies that will last a lifetime, as opposed to a quick curated wardrobe, without my clients knowing how to do it themselves.

My approach to creating this unique style process was to dig deep into the client’s life. What are they doing throughout the week, and does their wardrobe match that? The goal is to sync the two. Most women have nothing to wear because they are shopping wrong for their lifestyle. In this process, my clients have access to their own virtual closet, where they can add clothes from their own closet or add clothes they find online. Women who are not local can get the same experience as someone local. It’s the best part!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I started my styling company in 2018 but didn’t have any guidance on what was needed to have a successful company, but I started anyway. I figured it would come together one day.

My company now offers a full-style coaching service that teaches women how to tackle verticle style challenges utilizing a Height of Fashion Style Plan. This process dives into the client’s overall lifestyle needs and determines if their wardrobe fits that. Most of the time, it doesn’t, and why women struggle with finding clothes to wear.

The goal of the coaching session is to help each client change their mindset when it came to their style and help them understand that your wardrobe should match your lifestyle needs and not the other way around.

What sets my service apart from other style services is the customized style plan. It’s full of the wardrobe gaps that make their wardrobe functional along with some other goodies, but t
his is the secret sauce to my service.

I am proud to have revamped my services to what I have always wanted them not to be, and that is to serve women who are local as well as those who are not.

I am passionate about helping women enjoy getting dressed regardless of their circumstances!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Social Media is the new wave, and building an audience is the key to a successful business, also driving those supporters to your website. Even those you have thousands of followers if you have not converted them to your email list like they aren’t your potential customers. I tell other business owners this, social medical is not yours, and you should get them to your website.

When you first start your social media, focus on building a community. It’s where you will find your loyal customers. I recommend reading the book 1000 true fans. The book says you only need 1000 true fans to have a successful business.

Numbers mean nothing if they are not converting to sales.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

When on the hunt for new clients, I use different social media platforms as well as other sites where my potential will be. Since I work with corporate professionals, LinkedIn is my go-to and where my clients are. Otherwise, it is just word of mouth.
