Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danielle Burton-Haselrig. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Danielle, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I started my real estate career at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. We were all so unsure about what life was going to be like at that point but after working in veterinary medicine over 15 years, I was burnt out and knew I needed a change. The hours were so long and it left little time for me to show up for all the important things for my kids. So, with my partner’s blessing, I left my long career as a practice manager, took the first stimulus check and enrolled in real estate school. I had no back up plan and no idea what I was getting into. I just knew that real estate always felt right to me. It felt like really making an impact in my community in ways that I’ve always dreamed of making.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been an active member of my community for over 10 years now, and I was so excited to be turning that community focus toward real estate. My passion for service really extends to the Twin Cities namely Eden Prairie and the South/Southwest Metro. I try to carry the values of hard work, integrity, and outstanding client service into everything I do.
I love all aspects of the real estate profession, but I currently specializes in Luxury, Relocation, New Homes and First-time homebuyers.
I currently sit as a member of the board for Onward Eden Prairie. Onward is a wonderful non-profit that helps with transitional housing for young adults 18-24. I also act as a Community Navigator for the city of Eden Prairie and work for both the Foundation of Eden Prairie Schools as their marketing administrative assistant and the Eden Prairie High School as a receptionist. I know it sounds like a lot but I really love my community and supporting the people and especially the youth in it.
I think what sets me apart from others is my heart for people and the want to really see the them continuously thrive. As a mom for 3 children- one bio and two bonus, I understand what it’s like to work hard and sometimes feel overwhelmed with everything you need to do. I hope with my help, home sellers and buyers are able to just relax and let me handle the details that they shouldn’t have to.
I love working with all types of people from all different backgrounds and often tell my clients that once we meet they’re automatically family and I’m going to take care of them as best as I can. My goal is to get everyone to Be Happy. Be Healthy. and Be Home.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I would say that building relationships with people have been my best way to grow my clientele base. I rarely door-knock or cold call but I’m happy to start a conversation in line at the grocery store or waiting in a waiting room. I am always genuinely me to everyone I meet. What you see, is what you get. I think people respect that. I hope that my outgoing and kinda nerdy personality does the work for me. Also, I have really cute dogs so they help strike up tons of conversations.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn a lot of things but mostly I had to unlearn that I was unlikeable. I was previously married and my ex-husband would very often tell me that people didn’t like me. It gave me gripping social anxiety and for years after we separated it was really hard for me to just find “me” again. I had hidden the outgoing, fun, science loving, comic booking reading, girl somewhere and it was like I couldn’t find her anywhere. Becoming a real estate agent changed that for me. I realized that I took my classes, I passed my tests, I interviewed multiple agencies to see who I wanted to work for, and when I graduated I started a class to help other people graduate too. I did it and I didn’t have to hide who I was to do it. No one can tell you about yourself when you know who you are–and I love the person I am. I’m still building that dream but I’m definitely excited about what the future holds.
