Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zenobia Carter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Zenobia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I’ve been in the hair game since I was a little girl. I literally grew up in the salon because my mom was a master cosmetologist as well. She taught me everything I knew about hair. Once she saw the potential that I possessed, she poured everything she could into my passion by teaching me the things she knew.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Zenobia Carter, Master Cosmetologist and Educator. I have been doing hair professionally since 2020, but overall since a young girl. I am a graduate of Empire Beauty School of Savannah, Class of 2020. I am currently in the process of obtaining my cosmetology educator license, which is a new avenue for me. I am a Natural Hair Stylist. I specialize in textured, chemical and non-chemical, hair care services. I offer top tier hair experiences, use all professional products and tools, and deliver excellent customer service to each of my clients. Each person who sits in my chair does so knowing that I am going to deliver every time. I take pride in my craft and I give 100% to each client from start to finish. All it takes is one appointment, and you’ll be hooked.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding part about being a stylist is that we have the power to make our own work schedules. I love having the ability to adjust my work to my life versus it being the opposite.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to become as educated as humanly possible about hair and the business side of the industry, so that I can help young people start their careers early. I wish I had mentors to look up to that were around me everyday to show me how to maneuver through the industry, and would make me feel like I could actually be that person. Especially little girls who look like me!
