We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alonda Brooks a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alonda, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful you must first have a made-up mind to do so hence why I named my company I Must Become Enterprises because failure isn’t an option there are too many people waiting on me to prove it is possible to become your best self. Also, I feel you have to have a winning strategy such as the one I created which I affectioned named keep it C.U.T.E. C is for Consistent because consistency is needed to reap the rewards of your labor, U is Unapologetic you must get laser focus, and be unapologetic about what it will take for your success. T is for timeless you must create something that you can grow with or even when it reaches its life expectancy it is something you will be known for forever it has the game-changer effect. E is for efficiency you must create a system that gives you maximum productivity with minimal wasted effort or expense.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I have been coaching and consulting since becoming an entrepreneur at 16, I, however, was always more comfortable being a parallelpreneur meaning working a full-time job and also being a full-time entrepreneur . Once I became a mother I knew that time freedom and creative control were what I needed to become the mother and businesswoman I wanted to be so I decided to go from being an entrepreneur and elevating to ownership. Shortly after I went through a divorce which was also life-changing but I didn’t falter I just re-vamped my plan I went into corporate America with a 5-year plan to work save money and take my dreams up to the next level. I maintained the business all while working but in September 2019 I attended a conference that changed my life for the better and confirmed that I knew it was time to accelerate my plan. I got a business mentor and put some goals in place and I invested in myself and business. I started writing books and launched my coaching and consulting business while simultaneously launching another stream off of my first business. There were a lot of people that didn’t believe I could I remember being at work and people laughing until they started seeing the fruits of my labor. Then the pandemic hit and my mentor said you always have these motivational saying you should start a podcast I was like well let me think about it. long story short I launched it and it took off landing me multiple awards within the same year and the most rewarding was helping other people who were just like myself business owners and others who wanted to start a business and choose their purpose over what society told them they had to do the traditional 9-5 job.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I can remember feeling like I had to take my job because I was rebuilding my life after divorce but I was determined that the sacrifices that myself and my children made would not be in vain. The choices that I had to make were very unconventional and at times uncomfortable and people tried to talk me out of believing in myself out of their own fears. My job at times was discouraging and I felt like I was at the glass ceiling but as I look back now I am grateful it was uncomfortable I am grateful it was never enough money for me because just like a plant that outgrows its pot it needs to be repotted into a bigger space so its roots can continue to grow. God said bigger so I had to grow because there was more for me to do on this earth. I am grateful for all the laughs and the kicks while down because I repurposed them as fuel and they prepared me to help others to believe in themselves to become their best selves and leap into their becoming. Your backstory sets you up for an even greater testimony!
