We were lucky to catch up with Five recently and have shared our conversation below.
Five, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I came up with FiveXMedia because I wanted a name that represented me as well as the overall business and what it will be and not just the photography I do today. Which is why I choose the name of my business to be an equation. “Five” represents me I am the artist behind the business, “X” represents the multiplication symbol and “Media” is an umbrella to cover the different media outlets the business will produce in the future. In all Five X(times) Media = Art, storytelling, and the Creativity I produce.

Five, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello everyone I’m Five! I’m a Kansas City based visual artist that loves to create, inspire, entertain, and Story tell. My passion is creating art and stories for everyone to enjoy as well as give a platform for others to express and tell their stories. My mission is to build up self love as well as use my art to connect the world and allow others to escape the troubles of everyday life and get lost into art and bring positive experiences to the world. I started my business during the pandemic shutdown. Photography was a part of my major in college so it was always something I was interested in. The shutdown gave me the opportunity to really sit down and figure out how to launch a personal business and take action. I shoot High fashion, commercial, portraits, business headshots, engagements, maternity, senior photos, and events. Photography is only the beginning with plans to start Videos in the next year with even more plans of going into other streams of media in the future.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have 5 goals with my business.
The first is to create outlets for individuals to escape the stresses of everyday life. For me personally I can go to an art museum and just forget about everything and immerse myself into the art and have a great fun experience. I want to be able to provide that to others.
The next goal is to connect. Art opens the doors for individuals to have a conversation and relate with someone they would have never talked to in any other situation. Creating areas of common ground I believe spreads positivity in the world.
Advocating self love is also another goal for FiveXMedia. It doesn’t matter if it’s experienced model or someones very first photoshoot. I want the muse to feel so much joy and love for how they look in the photos and I want them to have so much self confidence in themselves when they see themselves.
Next I want to inspire and create opportunities for individuals to accomplish their goals and help create others dreams come true. As the business grows and becomes successful I’ll be able to network and create opportunities for other professionals to grow their businesses as well be a part of projects they’ve always wanted to do they just needed an opportunity.
The last goal is to leave a legacy. Art lives forever and stories never die. I have opportunity to leave a mark that I can leave for my kids, family, friends and world to help them remember Five and what he represented.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of my job is interacting with others and being able to create something special for different individuals. The shoot itself seeing ideas come to life, Seeing the muse reactions to how they look and watch the confidence grow with every shot. Seeing brands love how their products look in the photos and creating smiles on so many faces brings me so much joy. For myself being able to create and express myself in a nontraditional way is so therapeutic and freeing experience. It is an opportunity to be as creative and as weird as I want to be and seeing the outcomes come to life after so much prep is a rewarding feeling.
