We recently connected with Angela Love and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Hello! My business is Belle of Hair. I created this business due to my own hair struggles that I couldn’t find a solid solution for. My hair has always been dry and I couldn’t find a hair oil that was suitable to my hair liking. I’m not a product junkie so I would just end up wasting money and moving on to the next product. Essentially, I never found it. I started implementing the hair oil in my everyday hair life such as hydrating my scalp, wash day, and overall sheen. Then I figured that more people would like the product as well! Belle of hair was created!

Angela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m originally from Memphis, Tn. I went to Nashville to attend Tennessee State University and graduated with my bachelors and masters in Psychology. I was always lost in direction in terms of my professional path. After several years of working in a plethora of growing industries, I still wasn’t satisfied. I’ve always been business minded but I would never take anything serious for too long. I currently work in the financial services sector of healthcare but I have a deadline of taking on my business full time. My brand is about empowering women (Belles) to be the best version of themselves whether it’s hair wise, professionally, ect. If you’re not striving to be the best version of yourself then you’re not capable of taking on the biggest obstacles. I want to always strive for higher feats.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy of growing clientele is to basically go where they are. Social media is not what it used to be. You can’t just sit behind a screen and expect consumers to just buy from you. You need to build a community online and offline. Consistency and customer service are also two major factors
that contribute to growing your clientele.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the lessons that I had to unlearn in entrepreneurship is that you don’t need help. You can’t do it alone. I’ve always been overly independent and I hate asking people for anything. In business, you have to be open for others to come in and offer their contributions and be willing to receive it.
