Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Capt Dab. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Capt, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I have been putting a mixtape together called “Capt. Dab Presents: The Purple Strain” It’s a tribute mixtape to my favorite artist of all time: Prince.

Prince was a huge part of my childhood and was one of my mother’s favorite artists.
She passed due to Stage 4 Cancer in 3 major organs literally within 48 hrs of my daughter being born.
This mixtape is to pay homage to her as well.
And the mixtape is to also pay honor to my son, whom I named Prince.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Some people would say that I am just a potheaded degenerate that is dressed like a cross between Batman/Prince rip off. …. But that is purely speculation.

I would describe myself as a platform used to help my artists and the Northeast Ohio music scene in any way possible.
I work for 2 bigger Cleveland venues.
I throw shows, and host shows as well. I promote shows, manage a few artists, perform in a trap metal group called “Corpse Gvng” (all our music can be found under ‘Davijinx” on all Platforms)

I’m a huge local music scene supporter as well!!!

How did you build your audience on social media?

One by one. Engaging with others and genuinely supporting their missions, dreams, aspirations and music.

It costs exactly $0.00 to support someone.
Share their posts, music, links.
Actually listen and stream the music, buy their merch and products.
Believe in their visions.

I always say this: “Support is the Contra Code!”

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?

Support your friends businesses and ventures like you support designer clothes and popular trends.

Support local artists and bands like you do mainstream artists and bands.
