We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chastity Higgins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chastity, appreciate you joining us today. Can you share an anecdote or story from your schooling/training that you feel illustrates what the overall experience was like?
My school training was amazing! I attended Ogle School for Hair, Skin and Nails in Dallas, Texas for the Esthetics program in 2014.. I had an amazing instructor who really helped mold me into the educator I am today. I was given the opportunity to not only develop my skills as an Esthetician but also as a leader where I served as president of the Success Team which was our version of a student council.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Chastity Higgins and I am a Licensed Esthetician, educator and owner of Chas Mone’ Esthetics. I’ve found passion in the the beauty industry by having the ability to create experiences in the treatment room and inspiring those who I’ve had the honor to educate in my classroom.
In my opinion, small changes create big results. So rather that be making changes to your facial and body care routine or changes to your mindset to help get through school or excel in your business. These small changes play a big part in your outcome.
Chas Mone’ Esthetics has been developed by small changes and big results. It took me awhile to realize I had truly developed a business until I saw the results of my students and friends. Naturally I’m drawn to researching and self development so I was the go to person for questions and advice. I would give the information that I had researched and challenged those that would ask to implement them without overwhelming themselves. Each would report back the results and would usually have success. Helping others is what is feel my souls purpose. I truly find joy in doing so.
Chas Mone’ Esthetics has been created for those looking to connect the dots missing in their skincare routine for healthy skin and those that treat skin how to truly assist their client in achieving the best results. In addition to that I also curate social gatherings to make connections by fusing my love for esthetics, food and drinks, called Sip and Spas.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was that you have to stick to one thing. Of course you can’t have too many irons in the fire as my grandmother would say but you can be multi passionate and be successful.
I have made several career changes and moves over the years but each of the changes has been within the hospitality and customer service realm. For those who don’t understand how beneficial this is to a person who truly enjoys helping people they don’t see the reward in it. Usually the pay is not great or the money is not consistent but to someone like me, I tend to receive more than a financial reward from those career paths. Over time the financial gain and personal fulfillment caught up to each other.
All of those jobs helped me understand that I was able to continue doing what I love most about all of them in my business. It honestly took me a minute to niche down but I didn’t have let go of the things I enjoy most which is being helpful and social.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
What I think is most helpful in my field is having patience and controlling your stress levels. The body works off cycles and your skin being the largest organ will go through so my changes that you will not see results right away. This is important for the client as well as the esthetician providing the service to understand. Being able to work as a team to achieve your skincare goals will require it. Your body and brain doesn’t thrive is when it is under stress. You also don’t want to condition yourself to only be able to work under stress because this will cause quick burnout.
