Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Martin Powell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Martin, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I have worked on is reaching a wider audience other than church events. Being a Gospel Rap Artist, my music is Christian based, so the only place I would perform was Christian events. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus saves, but it needs to be communicated in all areas. I needed to branch out, so I started performing at open mics, no matter where they were. I started many meaningful relationships from starting this project. The relationships brought me to many great events, Dreamfest, MicCheck, Dope on Arrival, Backroom ( Memphis Artist for Change), Memphis Music Commission, HoodIdol, Wrap98 Music Mondays, Memphis Hip Hop Awards and many more. These are all non Christian based events that welcomed the positive message that I presented and performed with no reservation.
Martin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am born and raised in Memphis, TN. I have been doing music for 13 years from the church to the clubs to award shows. I know that without a good prayer life and keeping God 1st takes you a long way in the music industry I am in. I have released 2 albums , the Chronicles Volume 1 and Volume 2. I am currently working on Volume 3 which will be the finale of the Chronicles of the PreacherMan. I have a new clothing line called Beloved Boulevard as well as a Christian Music Brand that I stand by effortlessly. I have a publishing company named Global Impact Ministry Music Publishing, as well as an Independent label Global Impact Ministry Music. I am a voting member of the Grammy Association also. My music is worldwide and I have 110,00 streams on my single Get It Feat Slim Vezzy on Spotify. I am s dedicated artist that puts it all on the stage every time I touch a mic.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to spread the good news wordwide even in foreign countries
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
As an artist , there is a lot of work that goes into a song or a project. Support is very essential for an artist to thrive in any genre of music. Come out, download, buy, spread and share the music, and just any support goes a long way in order to keep thriving.
