We were lucky to catch up with Anastacia Juarez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anastacia, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I began making jewelry, I didn’t intend to have a business. I started to make pieces for friends and family, and had such great support that I was encouraged to expand. I started selling whenever I had the opportunity, at small parties and events, then slowly started doing larger organized markets. I quickly realized that I was on the right path. My favorite part about doing markets is meeting other artists and creators who are also pursuing their passions. Markets are not only a great place for sales, but also for gaining confidence and receiving valuable feedback from other artists. Surrounding myself with other successful creators has given me the courage to pursue my jewelry and art more seriously.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Anastacia and I’m an artist and jeweler living in Denver. My creative journey started about 8 years ago when I began experimenting with wire and gemstones. Throughout the years I have met teachers that introduced me to the wonderful world of metalworking and jewelry making, and I have learned so much. I make jewelry and artwork, primarily out of copper, which I love for its natural healing properties. It is a powerful conductor that is great for circulation in the body and spirit. The pieces of jewelry I create are meant to be beautiful adornments that are also beneficial to the overall wellness of the owner. In addition to making jewelry, I have a passion for creating copper bowls, trays, sculptures, and other functional objects. Expanding into more complicated metalworking has evolved my jewelry skills as well. I draw a great deal of inspiration from the desert in New Mexico, where I was born. My style is a unique ever-evolving mix of modern and old southwest.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Making jewelry and art brings me so much joy, and I feel blessed to be able to share that joy with others. The most rewarding part of being an artist for me is seeing the joy that my work can spark for other people. Seeing someone confidently wear a piece of my jewelry makes my heart sing. Being able to create something meaningful for someone is truly one of the greatest privileges.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
To me, beauty is not only how you look – it’s how you feel. I hope that my work can help bring beauty into the lives of those who encounter it. I have always followed my passions, and sought out that which excites me. I hope to always let my curiosity guide my creative ventures as I continue to learn and grow
