Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christa Stephens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Christa, thanks for joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Transparency, Empowerment, Ease, and Mentorship – heavy on the ease, is how we’re different from the industry standard. Leading a team of creative women of color, giving them the tools that they need to complete projects in a timely fashion, be with their families, AND discuss what they’re going through in this human experience – comfortably while empowering the clients with the tools AND knowledge that they need…I don’t think you’ll find that in any industry.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey Friends, I’m Christa Stephens! I’ve worked in lots of different fields (Geology/Environmental Science, Software Development & Yoga). Combining all of my life & work experiences together, similar to a Megazord (hehe), I created a design & marketing consultancy – Christa Stephens.
At our consultancy, we provide business solutions to Creative Entrepreneurs & small businesses to grow and maintain their companies while creating a space for mentorship and education.
With over 10 years of expertise in Project Management, I lead a team of Content Creators, Designers, Strategists, & Web Designers that come from across the world.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
That perfection is not obtainable. Worry and anxiety are very obtainable while you’re trying to get to perfection. Try not to focus so much on the end result, focus on the experience and document the process you took to get there.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Having fun and knowing the difference between art and design. Design is doing a job – it’s something that you’re hired to do and has a set of rules. Art typically doesn’t have rules, that’s why it’s fun (or scary if you’re a perfectionist lol).
