We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DJ LADIBUG a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi DJ, thanks for joining us today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate it if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
I am a business owner. Dj Ladibug is not just my name. It’s my brand.. I am constantly trying to stay up to date and current. The music and entertainment industry is constantly evolving. Rebranding is mandatory in this field. As an artist manager of Lysten from Just Vibe Music (JVM), we are always looking for ways to branch out his music.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I’ve always admired a DJ. While in college, I was mesmerized how one person can move a WHOLE crowd. Determine a persons whole mood. I started djing several years ago. Not as soon as I wanted. But life happened and djing had always been in my heart. Whether its hosting karaoke at the local watering hole, or djing a wedding-I’m ALWAYS engaged.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation was built on my personality. As a DJ and artist manager, you have to have that bubbly go getter personality. You can either be a crowd magnet, or a crowd disappointment.
I also wanted to share that I won Best in Central Texas 2022.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The source of my clients are either from close dj friends or referrals from other clients. Also if I’m out and about at a restaurant, I’ll leave my business card on the table with the tips. Gotten several clients that way.
