We were lucky to catch up with Tiara Mason recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiara, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue being a writer was in high school. English Language Arts was my favorite subject back in my school days. When I got older and went on to college, it wasn’t clear whether or not if I wanted to purse a career in being a screenwriter or not because I was more focus on a career path that would make me the most money versus a career choice that I would be more familiar with or something I would enjoy doing every day. Writing became more than just something I was “good at” but more so my passion and something I decided to build my future around.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Well first and foremost my name is Tiara, I also go by Lady T. I’m a playwright/ screenwriter/ director and proud owner of Hourglass Production Studios LLC. I wrote two major stage productions and debuted them both. The first play debuted back in 2019 titled “I married my best friend” in Macon, Georgia held at the Douglas Theater. I debuted recently another stage play production titled “Love Theory” which was held both in Newnan, Georgia and again in Macon, Georgia at the historical Grand Opera House. Prior to those shows I’ve held 2 free community back in 2014 showcasing my writing and directing skills for the first time to the general public. Ive also worked as a production assistant back in 2014 -2016 for a local affiliate WMGT 41NBC news in Macon, Georgia. I gained my art skills in high school as a member of the theater club and performing arts program at Tri-Cities High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Ive been writing scripts since I was 14 yrs old. I’m known for my stage play productions but growing up I also was known for singing and dancing. What I want my followers and supporters to know is that I aim to create stories that inspire, uplift and create conversation which relates to our community. We can’t heal what we want reveal. It so easy to entertain and give great performances but its another to give powerful messages that can help heal broken families, encourage someone in different areas of their life and share words of wisdom that viewers can carry with them for a lifetime. My genres and style of writing: Drama, Suspense, Romance Comedy, Surreal humor, Thrillers.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
It started on facebook (at the time when everyone started doing loves lol!) I started connecting with my audience by having conversations about different topics that were familiar to EVERYONE. I started engaging with different people and making it my personal and welcoming. I created a segment called “Tea Time with the Queen” in 2016 on facebook and started interviewing different influencers in my community and from there kept building an audience and keeping my face in the media as much as possible and showcasing my personality. My advice for those who are starting out building their audience and brand through social media is simply be yourself. Being yourself is the best way to go in having longevity in this industry. I built my audience by being comfortable with myself, being transparent and honest about what I’m saying at the same time respectful in my reach, and lastly have fun. Society as trick us into being this “perfect” presence but the truth is nobody is perfect. Go with different, go with what sets you apart from everyone else going live or putting out content. My very first self vlog “ debuted in 2020 during the pandemic and the idea came from me trying something different and fun but at the same time displaying my life and welcoming everyone into my world outside of being a writer and filmmaker.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative for me is when I introduce fresh new ideas and watching the vision come to life. That’s one of the exciting parts about being a playwright and a filmmaker, it allows you to be apart of the action. The finishing product is always exciting but the preparation leading up to it can be a big thill for me at times too. I love the feedback I get from my supporters about my shows and how it touched them. It’s a big motivation to keep writing and keep creating because of the love and respect I receive back in return from my community and aboard.
