We recently connected with Aaron Auxier and have shared our conversation below.
Aaron, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
While winning methods are typically simplistic in nature – nature itself is not. What I mean is that it’s in our human nature to not only over value others’ opinions, but to also over value our own inner critics. They must be shushed. One must become comfortable being uncomfortable. And that’s VERY hard for most humans.
Aaron, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I grew up as a child actor in Los Angeles, Being my mom hated freeways, she’d drive me to auditions using side streets such as Sepulveda Blvd. and Ventura Blvd. Over the years, I became fascinated by luxury homes hidden up long driveways or surrounded by large trees. Later in life, I had developed a strong passion for protecting the privacy of famous and/or wealthy individuals. At age 30, I moved to Las Vegas and started a real estate business. Within a few years, I had done $50 million in sales, many of my clients famous CEOs in the music business etc. I call it winning the “Life Lotto”, all my dreams literally came true.
A couple years into my career, I began making dozens of TV appearances on networks such as Nat Geo, Entertainment Tonight, and CNBC. I earned the reputation of being the unofficial mayor of Sin City. I considered getting into politics but have, so far, stayed out of them. Today, I’m the President of Celeb & Sports at Williams Luxury Homes, Sterling Fine Properties.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
One of the biggest factors behind brand loyalty is creating better content. So many entrepreneurs forget who the content is for (as well as its primary goal). The key is to creating emotional, well-written and/or filmed content. Content that solves problems. It’s not about the product, it’s about what it’s like to use the product, how it will improve someone’s life, etc. The same goes for retaining those in your sphere of influence. You must create a story. And keep telling it. Over and over and over and over and over. Got it?
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I lost millions of dollars and my mom got bladder cancer. I had to take a 7-year hiatus from my real estate and TV careers. During that time, I lost my confidence. Big time. Today, I’m happy to report that not only is it back, but bigger and healthier than ever. I encourage everyone to realize we must lose in order to win. There’s not a person on this earth that knows their industry and appreciates their business like someone who had it all, lost it all, and got it back. That’s the hard truth. I want everyone to know it’s completely normal to experience pain and suffering. It’s a right of passage and very powerful when embraced.
