You can’t be shy and find partners at the same time. The key to finding and cultivating partnerships is to remember that a conversation is a dialogue, not just you waiting for your turn to speak. If you want to connect with someone, do your best to make them feel seen. A good opening line for a conversation is: “so, what are you really passionate about?” That’s a great jumping off point! People will remember how you made them feel before they remember many other things about you, and if you made them feel good then they’ll likely want to see you again. Read more>>

One word…Kindness. Approaching new people for the first time can be anxious to most. I have always been a social butterfly as they say. Getting to know people “truly” is my secret. It can be hard building a characteristic relationship with vendors for the first time. I have always found it’s easiest to listen first. When it comes to building relationships with photographers, I find they key is to just ask. I generally look into their portfolio’s and really take an interest in the “piece.” I comment on that piece, and ask if I could get their contact information because I would really love to see how their photos finalized. Research, research, and more research is required. A lot of the time manufactures are overseas and a few things you have to consider is sampling/ testing your potential product, the amount of time and money it takes to ship.
