As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

It’s important to clearly define the term “vacation.” To any parent that has ever existed, we all KNOW that there is a huge difference between “vacation” and “trip.” A vacation is adults-only, kid-free travel! Do I take vacations!? OF COURSE! One of the best things about being your own boss is you can take vacations whenever you want to! ;) You get so burnt out trying to plan vacations around all of your other coworkers and get stressed out if you don’t have enough PTO if you’re working for something else or a big company. Very thankful that I’m able to do so and not have to worry or stress about vacationing! Read more>>

Yes! Vacations are important to me for lots of reasons. A change of scenery is not only good for giving yourself a break from work and your normal routine, but you get to see new things and new environments and stimulate different parts of your brain. Different countries have different aesthetics and trends. You never know where you will find inspiration! Natural scenery, food markets, museums, architecture, the quality of light, and these things can influence your part in surprising ways. Read more>>
