We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrew Hannon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Growing up in a small town in KS, I was the quiet kid in school who was good at sports. My parents never pushed me to the point of going outside of who I truly was, but they taught me to work hard, treat others how you want to be treated, push for your dreams and lead with your actions. Working in the fitness industry I feel that last saying has always stuck with me, especially in a very vocal dominant field.
My parents are still together and their commitment to each other has really taught me how to communicate, be a strong provider, love and value my wife. Now that I am a father (we have a 1 year old) my parents also taught me about sacrifice and what’s really important in life. My parents didn’t have very high paying jobs while raising 4 children, but we always had a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs and they were always finding ways to provide for us when new opportunities came our way.

Andrew, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started as an athlete in a small town in Kansas where I participated in three sports in high school. My sports career continued at Baker University where I played baseball and basketball. During that time I began to find my true passion for fitness and performance. While majoring in Exercise Science my knowledge on fitness and health continued to grow. Throughout my athletic career at Baker, I realized my strength performance goals could be reached by getting into weight lifting. After I graduated I knew that I wanted to share the knowledge I learned to help other people, and that’s where my personal training career started.
What I love about the fitness industry is it’s always expanding and there is always something new to learn. The mindset and heart of an athlete, I continue to look for opportunities to enhance my education with health and fitness. I embraced the learning and concepts of golf fitness and performance and believe that the general public can benefit from the concepts of golf fitness training through mobility, flexibility, dynamic movement while throwing a twist of traditional strength and athletic movements. I view health and fitness not necessarily about looking ripped or toned year round with high intensity workouts, but about a life style change through active habits, maintainable nutritional choices, and a healthy mind set of self-worth.
I love working with all types of people, and enjoys creating valuable interpersonal relationships that can help clients exceed their goals. I enjoy learning about my clients to ensure a fun, motivational and fulfilling experience.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe utilizing social media really help my career and my brand grow. Before I moved to Arizona 8 years ago I didn’t pay much attention to Instagram. I made commitment to post more about my service and information I knew people would find valuable. With patience and staying discipline about posting everyday I grew my social following from 400 to 34k. Instagram has provided me a platform to have a voice in the golf fitness space, which I believe helped me become a Golf Digest Top 5o Golf Fitness Trainers in the U.S.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I can remember the first year we moved to AZ. We moved out here with no family or friends in the area and I had to grind to build up my business. Me and my wife really had to budget at first to establish our life in a new state. I remember signing up for a Continue education seminar that cost a lot of money but knew it would be benieficial in the long run. During the seminar we had to purchase one of the training aids on top of the other costs. I remember calling my wife saying “I don’t think I have enough money to purchase this right now, I don’t know what to do.” Just remembered hating that feeling and started feeling doubt of our decision to move. She calmed me down and said ” Don’t worry, we have enough money to cover it and I believe in us that we can get through this.”
8 years later and we are still here, haven’t talked once about moving back.
