We recently connected with Abner Isaiah Reyes and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Abner Isaiah, thanks for joining us today. It’s easy to look at a business or industry as an outsider and assume it’s super profitable – but we’ve seen over and over again in our conversation with folks that most industries have factors that make profitability a challenge. What’s biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
The biggest challenge to profitability in my industry has been vicious competition and dealing with other vendor. This is something that most people do not speak on. I do admit there will always be competition within the photography industry and that is okay. This helps in always improving and becoming a better photographer. In my personal experience I have had to deal with vendors that are not professional; that they have undermined my hard-work and have even gone as far to say to potential clients that my work is not good. Even telling potential clients that I am not available for a date without asking if I really am available. One always feels passionate of the work that They do; I feel like this is something that aspiring and even veteran photographers should be aware of.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a Fine Art photographer with a light and airy aesthetic. I strive for a level of quintessential, authentic romance in my work so you end up with photos as remarkable as you are, with an experience to match.
I believe how you feel when a photo is being taken is equally important to how you look. My priority is to make you feel comfortable, confident, and relaxed in front of the lens so that we can create genuine memories you and your loved ones will cherish for a lifetime. Because, at the end of the day, you deserve images as remarkable as your love story.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients have been the recommendation of past clients. This is always due to giving the best of my work to my clients and having others seeing this. Also social media; mainly instagram has been of great help. The best way to achieve new clients is to an organic following of people. Never should you buy instagram followers to appear to others that your following is bigger than what is really is. This hurts engagement for your business account. Having a good reputation and honesty will open a lot of paths for your business growth.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What has helped build my reputation within the Photography industry has been having a strong work ethic. This entails having a good communication pathway with my clients to obtain the best the day of their event and to capture their vision. Always being honest as a professional; not looking for one’s benefit but looking for the clients best interest. This in turn has resulted in satisfied clients that are more than happy to share your work and speak highly to other potential clients.
