Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandon Sanders. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brandon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to help people and wildlife co-exist peacefully. I love being able to rescue animals, as well as helping and educating people about why our native wildlife is important to the world we live in. If I could leave behind a legacy, I would hope to change peoples opinions on how they see our native wildlife, as well as to of helped people learn to love and respect our wildlife!
Brandon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I grew up caring for different wild animals, and watching my family play music on the back porches at family get togethers, complete with Spoons, Wash Boards, and Guitars. Animals and music were both loves in my life that would evolve through the years. My father owned his own Wildlife Management Company, and after he sold his company, I decided to start my own company and haven’t looked back since! Starting my company allowed me follow my dreams, work with animals daily, and allowed me time for me to start playing music again.
I’m grateful I get to do what I do for a living!!
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I started my company I had a lot of ideas brewing in my head of the things I wanted to offer my customers. Wildlife education and building content was one outlet I was interested in exploring more of. While working with animals, I have came across many amazing situations and always enjoyed sharing those stories with friends and family. So one day I decided to do my own advertising and start to film and collecting content from my rescues and wildlife encounters. The best ways to successfully advertise your company/mission, is word of mouth, social media, and providing quality work.
For me. I feel things really took off after being able to show my audience exactly what my job looks like, what services we offer, and how we treat animals and handle our customers. Creating content and using social media has helped my company grow and find an organic audience that watch our content.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
While starting my company I went to the lengths of cold calling real estate companies, knocking on doors on houses that I could see had issues, as well as joining neighborhood groups on facebook to connect with customers in need of animal services. By far the best way I have received new work is word of mouth from doing a quality job, and being honest with the customer. I operate different than some in my industry and while we are in the business to make money, we will never push an up sale on a customer on something they do not need. Being honest, forward, and communicative with your clients is by far the best way to keep the jobs coming in. You can bring in new clients online through places like Nextdoor or facebook, but in my eyes Social Media should mainly be looked at as a way to network, and show your potential customers what makes you different than your competitors.
