Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quincy Powell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Quincy , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
My prayer is that my legacy will be. About a man of God, that lived his life to serve the needs of others.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a native of Lafayette Louisiana, where I was born and raised. At the age of 21 I moved to Atlanta, Ga where I would spend most of adult hood and also where God Made Merch was birth.
I started this business with a good friend of mine in 2014 and at the time it was called LFE Apparel (Live Free Everyday). Our main goal was just to create t-shirts that would inspire people to live their life freely with no regret.
After a couple years in my business partner decided he didn’t want to be apart of the business anymore, and I took control of 100% off the business.
In 2018 I was looking for a way to rebrand the business and it was in that moment the name God Made was placed on my heart.
Once the name change was official, my business grew like never before.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I would consider this a story but more of ways to build your social media 101.
1. Marketing: You must be willing to spend money on ads, email blast, and text messages.
2. Events: Do your best to try and find vendor opportunities in your city or surrounding areas.
3. Word of Mouth: Make sure you are providing great customer service, and your products are good quality. With this you will gain returning customers and they will tell family & friends about your business.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I would say for me during Covid when the world was locked down. During that unfortunate time people were limited to shopping online, which created an opportunity for online business owners like myself to show case our brands to the world.
That was one of our best years for as sales and profit. Also it help grow our social media presence as well.
