We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Vanessa Woods-White. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Vanessa below.
Vanessa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
After operating my product-based business, that was growing slowly, I finally was able to create and implement strategies to increase revenue and scale. I now am on a mission to help as many entrepreneurs and small business owners as I can do the same with their businesses. My goal is to equip other business owners with the strategies that I have developed over the years that have been proven to work. I give them the framework, the blueprint on how to grow their revenue so they can gain success faster.
Vanessa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been coaching others for over two decades, starting in my career in corporate America as a Human Resources Executive. Business coaching, specifically, started due to having success in my product-based business that I have been operating for the past 9 years. People started to see the growth in my business and ask how I was able to get products to celebrities, how I would have successful pop-up shop events, product development and more. Those that were starting small businesses of their own began to ask questions and would want to “pick my brain”. Over time, I realized that I could be helping so many other people by starting my coaching business. I use my years of Human Resources experience with my years of being an entrepreneur to help entrepreneurs transform their businesses.
I work with them one on one to create revenue generating strategies that will fit their business needs and goals and provide support along the way. There are lots of business coaches out there, but what makes me different is the fact that I offer one on one coaching. Also, my approach is not “cookie cutter”. I take a look at each business to see what will work best for THAT business. In addition, I offer digital resources ebooks that provide tips and strategies. I teach entrepreneurs marketing strategies that they can apply to their business that will help them reach their revenue goals over and over again.
I am most proud of the fact that I operate in integrity and people trust me to help them. Investing money in your business is a big deal, so being able to provide service in this way is huge for me. And gratifying!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Well when I started my coaching business, my target client was not entrepreneurs. In fact, my ideal client was small brick and mortar businesses that needed help with human resources support and employee engagement. That all shifted at the height of the pandemic in 2020. Small brick and mortar businesses were more focused on simply staying in business. I, myself, needed to shift as well. I saw so many people starting online businesses but needed support. I then shifted my attention to that type of client and began offering virtual one on one coaching. I leveraged social media to market my services and it took off from there! It was probably the best decision I could have made. I’ve been able to reach thousands of business owners that I may not have otherwise. I also offer group coaching sessions each quarter that take place virtually. Having a group of entrepreneurs in one space creates such a synergy and the learning experience is even more impactful!
How did you build your audience on social media?
Sure. The key to building your social media audience is connecting and being consistent. Hands down! When your followers can get a true feel for your personality, who you are, maybe a peek into your personal life; they will begin to trust you. I use my platform to share valuable content like tips for attracting customers, revenue generating ideas and more. In essence, giving them REAL information they can use. Don’t get me wrong, I have fun too! One of my favorite ways is to “go live” on Instagram for Q&A sessions where my followers can ask me questions directly. It is in those lives that your audience can connect with you, understand who your are and trust that you are the person that can help them. So, if you want to grow your audience, the key is to connect with them and be consistent.
