Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Franklin . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amber, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
Before Covid my organization was meeting once or twice a month for runway training and photoshoots. We would also host multiple women empowerment events. When covid hit we had to began to do everything virtually, cancel events, and a couple of members also had to leave due to the financial need to work extra or just because virtual wasn’t a option for them. We sat out a couple of months before I came up with a game plan to help us get through the pandemic. Even though things seemed impossible God always gives me directions and which way to lead these women. Since then we have our meetings virtually, we meet once a month for photoshoots and we try to make sure we are taking precautions when we are together.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Amber Thee BBW Barbe and I have been a plus model since 2018 and I’ve always had a love for fashion and creativity. I was born and raised in Dallas Tx. where after I graduated I attend Wade College for Fashion Merchandising. In 2018 God gave me a vision for an Organization called My BIG is Beautiful to help plus size women as myself gain confidence, self-esteem and self love. This Organization was also created to help those ladies that don’t fit the “MODEL STANDARD” in a world full of requirements become models. I am also a Wardrobe Stylist and Creative Director for videos and photo shoots.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
When I meet new people they always tell me I came highly recommended lol. I believe in promotions so I keep promoting everything I do. During these times social media is a BIG influence and I post A LOT to stay relevant and also through word of mouth. When it comes to those I come in contact with I believe in always giving my best service and I feel like I do an amazing job as well.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When it comes to building your audience you want to 1st know your audience and who you are targeting. I learned this information by making my IG a business account and viewing my insights constantly. Once I learned my audience I would gage the time of day I would get the most interactions and or dm’s about something I’ve posted. One thing I’ve learned through the process is that it has to be consistent and you have to have an aesthetic. You want to keep up with trends of social media and always keep your page updated.
