Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Fleckenstein. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrew, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
At Aerodef Productions, we are driven by our passion to help couples in love document one of the biggest days in their lives. We’ve coined the tagline, “Making Life Unforgettable” and it really boils down to just cementing a hand crafted wedding film onto video. A wedding day itself flies by really fast and there are so many moments big and small that a couple may not remember or get to experience first hand on their day. It could be something as simple as a grandmother’s face watching her granddaughter’s first dance. As professional videographers, it’s our mission to capture and preserve these memories, so the couple can relive them at any point for the rest of their lives.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Andrew Fleckenstein and I’ve been a wedding videographer officially since 2011, but I started doing it long before then. I started filming weddings in high school for friends’ family members and other members of my community, etc. Then in 2011, as I gradated film school, I realized that I can make a career out of this type of work. Fast forward to now and I’ve been fortunate to have filmed nearly 300 weddings. I pride myself most on my commitment to the quality of the final wedding film. Still to this day, I personally show up and film the wedding myself and do all of the subsequent editing. Wedding films can be more personalized to the couple when the videographer present at the wedding is the one doing the editing too. There’s small details that can be missed by an editor who’s not present at the event, like who’s who and why is this particular detail important.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Just being a down to earth person. I view myself as one part of a larger team of wedding professionals working to provide and unforgettable experience to a couple on their wedding day. My work is important, but so is the florists’, the photographers’, the planners’, etc. I bring a friendly, collaborative approach to any wedding I film so that I can do a good job but also to make sure that my work does not interfere with the other vendors’ work.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I would’ve taken advantage of various podcasts, Facebook groups and other videographers resources earlier on. For years, it was total trial and error on my part and I wasn’t taking advantage of communities online where videographers come together to share ideas and learn from one another. Now, I try to be very active in these forums and have benefitted tremendously from them.
