We recently connected with Desiree’ Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Desiree’, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
In June 2021, God instructed me to start a business called Blossoms at Home. As I stood in my bathroom I had no idea what I was supposed to do with it, and He told me, ‘Do all of it!’ That meant, lend the talents I have gifted you to those who can benefit. So I did. When Blossoms at Home officially begun in August 2021, the idea was to offer services in the area of organization, interior design, DIY project assistance, and to sell cakes and cookies within the Blossoms Bakery. Well, I almost immediately added on an additional service – style assistance. I was either harboring my talents or thinking too small as to what I could I do, because my clients and followers soon were telling me what they wanted; and I listened!
Blossoms at Home operates under the slogan: Be Inspired, Be Creative. What that means to me is: Allow us [Blossoms at Home] to inspire you to think outside the box. Whether you are a client or just a follower, I want you to envision a new living space for yourself. Think about how you can use that empty space in your home; pick up a can of paint or a drill for the first time; pair pieces together that you never would have before; organize something in your home yourself. But even if you’re not willing to do it yourself, allow us to come in and assist you.
The mission is simple – Share, create, and design to inspire others to enhance their living spaces or wardrobe.

Desiree’, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a full time, dual healthcare professional for a local children’s hospital; mother, and influencer/content creator inspiring individuals to think outside the box in terms of organization, design, and fashion. On a typical day, you would find me working until the evening, then quickly switching gears to my creative space. Whether I’m organizing, cleaning, assembling or refurbishing furniture, painting, putting outfits together, etc. – I am doing something (and before I know it, it’s 2:00am)!
I started my business, Blossoms at Home, in August 2021 – a few months after I had purchased my first home. The name stems from a name that my Father has called me since the day I was born – Flowergirl. “Blossoms” for short, was created with the intention of providing my clients and followers a creative space where they could feel inspired to do things themselves or hire me to fulfill those needs. Either way, clients would generate a mindset around what the possibilities could be in their living spaces, or within their wardrobe. Currently, Blossoms at Home provides five services – Organization, Interior Design, DIY Project Assistance, Style Assistance, and the Blossoms Bakery. One would probably ask if I’m providing too many services, if I’m doing too much, or if it’s possible to manage it all. My response: Does Target only sell toilet paper? Who’s to say it can’t be done? It can certainly be done, but not without sacrifice and hard work.
Each time I finish working with a client and they see the complete transformation of their space, I watch their eyes get big and they smile uncontrollably, that’s when I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. When I receive the calls, texts, and reviews of gratitude, I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. When my work is shared on social media and individuals speak to how they’ve felt inspired, I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. When a client’s stress and anxiety levels have decreased and I hear the huge sigh of relief, I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. Those are the moments that make me proud – when the work of my hands can change someone’s life or put their mind at ease.
Alongside my business, being an influencer/Content Creator is simply another way for me to reach people. I have been blessed with the opportunity to partner with brands such as Amazon, Shapermint, Pivo, and Saved & Still Dope and have in turn created multiple revenue streams for myself. I won’t get a chance to work personally with everyone or be able to call them all a Blossoms client, but I can certainly find a way to interact with everyone online. You will always find me sharing tips, tricks, and ideas on my social media platforms.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media! The Share button is a powerful tool. Friends, family, and followers tagging or mentioning my name in posts, or being mentioned in the comments for those asking for recommendations have all certainly helped. I have direct links to my website and platforms everywhere – Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest – so that once my name is mentioned, future clients will know who I am, what services I provide, what my work looks like, and are able to gain a sense of my personality.
I always ask new clients how they heard about me and Blossoms, and the answer is most likely social media. Word of mouth can sometimes be your best advertisement.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
It’s more of a thought process that I had to unlearn. One thing to know is that I have never been an individual to do or say things to impress others. I can only be myself in every space I operate in; and I do not operate with the intentions of being popular or well known. With that, I had to learn to carry that same mindset over into my business. Early on, I found myself getting upset when clients only wanted me for certain things. For instance, I had clients who only wanted the pound cakes I offer within the Blossoms Bakery. I would hear them mention to others of how delicious the cakes were and encouraging them to order. I’d then find myself immediately going into defense mode saying something along the lines of, “I also help people organize their spaces, etc.” And the response was typically, “oh ok”, “that’s cool” or “wow, you’re doing it all”.
What I had to understand was that I wasn’t failing as a business owner and I didn’t need to impress others, but there are going to be times where my clients only want one thing from me. Some will want their spaces organized, some will want help with an outfit, some will simply just want a cake, or some will just need help designing their bedroom. And that’s okay. Back to my comment about Target – Does Target only sell toilet paper? No. With every visit a customer makes to Target, their needs are different in that moment. My brand, my business, is multifaceted. Whenever, and however, my clients need me, Blossoms at Home will be there in someway.
