My life as a intern was both easy and hard. Easy as in the access it gave me to super stars and major situations. Hard because there was no physical pay and people talk to you like you’re beneath them and you’re to an extent. So being a intern humbled me and taught me how to treat people. Read more>>

An important lesson I learned early on is to never think you’re too good to do something. A thing you probably wouldn’t guess about photo assisting is how much of it doesn’t actually involve photography. You do assist the photographer, of course, and handle the gear, but you also are usually the one who takes lunch orders, picks it up, and sets it out. Read more>>

I’ll never forget my mentor telling me with her eyes to shut the hell up. I was in the middle of explaining to her client how amazed I was that her hands could shake so much and her lines would still come out clean, and I saw her dart her eyes at me in a way that told me to close my mouth immediately. Later she gently reminded me that apprentices were to be seen and not heard. Read more>>

School was almost over for me as I was finishing up my last few quarters, I had to pay out of pocket for school. In my 40s, I made a decision to study and pursue art. Earning my BFA required that I complete an internship with an artist or art organization. Read more>>

I recently had the immense pleasure of taking part in Atlanta’s August Fashion Mart as a part of Therapy by Lisa Adams (TLA). During the week I was engaged on the show room floor I was able to experience a part of the fashion world I had not been exposed to before. I gained experience on operating as a wholesaler as well as a personal stylist and shopper. Read more>>

So for my last semester of college, I interned at an elementary school. I designed their yearbook for the 2017-2018 year. It was honestly a lot of fun! The teacher gave me free reign and barely asked for any changes (a dream client, LOL). Now the story takes a turn AFTER I finished my internship. Imagine being done with all your college classes and just counting down the days until you walk down the stage to get your diploma. Read more>>

When I was in the process of completing my undergraduate Degree in Human Anatomy and Physiology, I interned as a Lab Technician at a cancer treatment center locally. Part of my job was extracting cells from different types of cancer samples and assaying them against different chemotherapy drugs and natural remedies. I ended up testing almost every type of cancer against the herb Ashwagandha and found that this natural remedy was MORE effective than any chemotherapy drug on the market in killing the cancer cells in question.
