Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Nave. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Taylor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
We are extremely different from the current industry standard of “mobile bartending”. Our entire operation is mobile. We actually drive the truck that we serve our drinks from which is usually not the case. Our truck is setup to serve drinks straight from kegs, creating a situation to be able to serve craft cocktails and draft beers from any remote location, no electricity required. Our business is defying all kinds of odds and we love to hear people say that our truck is the first of its kind that they’ve ever seen.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are a young couple who quite literally stumbled upon Tap Truck USA. In looking around online to see if a mobile wine bar existed, we did find that mobile vintage bars existed. Once we saw that Austin didn’t have someone running the business yet, we bought in and didn’t even think twice. We create bar scenes for all types and sizes of events, with the goal in mind to provide a beautiful and unique experience. We always strive to make each event personalized to the client we are serving. We have the ability to pour draft drinks from a remote location, literally pulling up with taps wherever we are needed. We are an almost all-inclusive bar service, to only exclude the alcohol. Providing a draft service, bartenders, drinkware, and decor really helps our clients to focus on other details of their celebration while we cover everything, they’ll need for their bar service, which can have alot of moving parts and details. We also help our clients save money by being able to purchase kegs for their party vs individual bottle/can prices and gives them a beautiful and unique option to serve their guests. We are proud to be a minority owned and operated business and most proud that we have learned this new business throughout and have worked/attended every single event our truck has been hired for. We love meeting our new clients and their party guests and working with local Austin vendors, being personable is our number one goal for our business. It is important to us that you love the way your bar looks for your special event.
How’d you meet your business partner?
We both met each other years ago, being coworkers in San Antonio. Once we found ourselves both living in Austin, we started a relationship and 3 years later found Tap Truck. We didn’t think twice about going into business together, we both knew it would be a good decision. We knew we were strong together, but this new business venture has made us even stronger. We are a great team and so in sync.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
Neither one of us had ever bought a business before Tap Truck. Ronnie did run a successful furniture making business in the past, but he built it from scratch. Once we found this opportunity, we had to learn about licensing and how buying into a business worked. We both have had experience in the service industry, more specifically the alcohol industry so we did have some knowledge about what this business would look like. We never had a doubt that it would work or that we wouldn’t be great at it.
