We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anouck Jourdaa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anouck below.
Anouck, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I am currently working on an American flag series that revisits the theme of patriotism. It was born from clashing views during the 2020 presidential elections. I wanted to reflect on what unites Americans, beyond their divisions, as well as express the values I rally to.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a French Vietnamese German now American popart painter. I celebrate the joy of being a woman, fully embracing our power, sensuality and wholeness. My paintings have been described as a personal fusion of Fauvism, Popart, Street Art and Art-Deco movements. .When I am not painting, I am a passionate surfer, musician and math teacher.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society can fully reward artists by giving them opportunities to share their work and sell it without charging them. There is a tendency to overrate artists that already came from money while making emerging artists pay for every exposure or business opportunity. I have found it hard to live off my art whereas wealthy artists seem to find open doors and generate even more money when they did not need it. I would thrive in a society that rewards artists for their unique vision and that accepts to pay the price for their art even if they have not been completely acknowledged by the mercantile world.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I am learning about NFTs to be able to create my own soon. I feel very overwhelmed by the abstraction and technical part of it, yet I feel there is a future there for me if I do not wait too long to get onboard. I like the idea of not having to ship artwork and also getting a commission every time my art gets sold again.
