We were lucky to catch up with Kai’rys Slayer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kai’rys, thanks for joining us today. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today
Research, Research, Research!!!!
A lot of avoidable mistakes are made either due to lack of knowledge or being too comfortable. Going into this business I had a plan. But that’s all it was. I knew the goal but had no research, no knowledge, no funding. All I had was a simple plan and a lot of energy.
If I could go back, I would tell myself to learn the craft more. To be patient. To be wiser with where I place so much energy. Definitely find a mentor to sit under.
Kai’rys, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Having been a fan of music in just about every way possible, I would hear music at a young age and say to myself, “I can make that better”. Not having a great financially strong family, I had to be creative. I wrote a lot. I joined the school band. I would watch movies about music. That passion lead me to start this company.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Integrity
I didn’t know the importance of that word until starting this journey. People will solicit your services. But that’s not a win. The win is having them to become repeat clients who always seek you first.
We try extremely hard to give what is asked of us. That sounds simple but you’d be surprised at how often that simple task is failed. Be on time, be courteous and always remember that it’s ALWAYS about the client.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Starting out solo and carrying the full weight of a business is something I keep in my forethought daily. Now having a team, I recall them each using the word “boss”. I have yet to enjoy that title. I feel that we are a team. And as a team, we should be able to operate freely, openly and without fear or limits. I can’t be everywhere at all times. I can’t do everything. That’s why they’re here. To be an extension of me. Last I checked, no one part of my body was more important than the other because I need every part of me to operate fully.
That’s how I feel about this team. I would encourage any business owner to keep in mind that everyone you have is important to the sustainability of your company. If they love the company you’ll get that in their performance.
