Alright, Justyce thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?

As an entrepreneur, patience and dedication is key. Success comes with time and hard work. It is not something that can be achieved overnight. I started my business in February 2020 during Black History Month. It began as Jaye’s Beauty Bags and later in the current year 2022, will be rebranded to AESTHETIC COSMETICS. The business holds the same values, beliefs, and purpose but with a different look instead. In the beginning, I sold my products to my high school peers. As time went on, I learned more about marketing, audiences, profits, and legal paperwork. This knowledge led me to my rebrand and also spiked more sales for me. Throughout the years, I have been able to reach 5 states as well as be recognized by two magazine platforms. I still have so much more room for growth but TIME allowed me to achieve what I have so far. There has been times where I have lost money due to ignorance or product malfunctions but I did not let it stop me from my craft. Being an entrepreneur comes with understanding that there will be plenty of trial and error moments but you must keep going.

Justyce , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I started my business to provide my customers with affordable and convenient beauty products. As a young teenager, I began to observe how expensive and unattainable a lot of beauty items were. I wanted to provide a bag, which is where Beauty Bag originated from, that my customers could take with them on the go when they wanted to use their products. I also wanted everyone to be able to enjoy this so I made no product by itself, over twenty dollars. I have sold a plethora of things like eyelashes, purses, lipgloss, and more. Now as AESTHETIC COSMETICS, I sell eyelashes and jewelry. Some of the jewelry I handmake myself include bracelets, anklets, and waist-beads. I do plan on adding more as time goes on but those two are my most popular and prominent. Another aspect of my business is that I include a Bible Verse or Inspirational quote in every order. This is what I am most proud of. I feel like this separates me from others in the beauty industry. I also feel like I am genuine and caring and that it shows all throughout my business. I want my customers to feel beautiful inside and out so the verse or card works with the products to achieve so.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source that has helped me acquire new clients is social media. Specifically instagram has helped me the most. Social media platforms play an integral role in reaching my audience. My audience can vary but typically would be younger women and that group uses social media frequently. I spend a lot of time ensuring I post a specific way that appeals and also releases at a peak time so I can reach others.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.

I keep in touch with my clients by sending newsletters to the email they register with when purchasing from my site. Another way I keep in touch and foster brand loyalty is with my Loyalty Program. The program states that once the customer has ordered from me three times, the fourth order will be free. These tactics are to keep engagement consistent while also returning the love to people who support me.
